• Arvato Systems adds Eqeep as implementation partner for serialization solution in the Dutch and Belgian healthcare markets
  • Partnership is expected to expand into further business areas in the future

International initiatives aim to prevent fake medications from entering the legal supply chain. Arvato CSDB, the serialization solution from Arvato Systems, enables pharmaceutical companies to serialize medical products. Arvato Systems and Eqeep Consulting B.V. have agreed to enter into a partnership for the implementation of this IT solution. Further joint projects and training by Eqeep for customers in the serialization environment are planned for the future.

In line with the EU anti-counterfeiting directive (Falsified Medicines Directive, or FMD), agreed by the EU in January 2016, from February 9, 2019 prescription medicines can only be sold if each individual package can be identified as unique and is provided with a serial number. These serial numbers are added to a national database: when medications are given to customers, the pharmacy confirms that the serial number is in existence and has not previously been used. The Arvato CSDB serialization solution is a fully integrated modular system which ensures that companies are able to implement the FMD.

Harm van Echteld, CEO of Eqeep Group B.V. welcomes the partnership with Arvato Systems and highlights the need for practical action in the pharmaceutical industry: “Serialization brings with it considerable additional effort for companies. Many still underestimate how much work will be needed to ensure that all systems and processes have been modified in good time. For us, this partnership offers a perfect opportunity to expand our market knowledge. We have already had experience of working closely with Arvato Systems, and this was a partnership that felt very positive. Building from this, we have now taken the next step. We will help Arvato Systems’ customers to implement the serialization solution Arvato CSDB, so that customers are able to demonstrate compliance with the European Counterfeit Medication directive in good time.”

As well as the implementation, Arvato Systems and Eqeep expect their future work together to extend to other areas such as managed services in combination with IFS Enterprise Business Software products.
