Using simulation as a product development tool
In injection moulding in particular, simulation helps to optimize products even before the test phase. Tool costs can be reduced and design errors detected at an early stage. Even in the design phase, simulation enables holistic, virtual product development in which potential errors can be identified, analyzed and eliminated before a prototype or small series is produced. It is therefore hard to imagine product development without simulation as an effective tool.
Practical and application-oriented
With the new course “Modeling and Simulation in Plastics Technology” at the SKZ site in Peine, the SKZ is offering practical training in cooperation with SimpaTec GmbH.
In addition to theory, the two-day course also includes a high practical component. Participants learn more about product development in the company and the interaction between material, process and design, the state of the art and various simulation models.
A central component of the course is the practical application of the “Moldex3D” simulation software. Participants have the opportunity to carry out a simple filling simulation under supervision. Own designs in common CAD formats can also be used. A component will be tested on an injection molding machine with a focus on validating the simulation results.
The knowledge gained contributes to the optimization of components, tools and processes and promotes a deeper understanding of the possibilities of simulation in plastics technology.
A particular focus is on the application of simulation technologies to optimize the injection moulding process. The use of FEM coupling, material databases and statistical test planning significantly increases efficiency in product development.
“With our new training course on modeling and simulation in plastics technology, participants gain an in-depth understanding of the integration of simulations into the development process, taking into account material and process parameters,” says Andreas Grzeskowiak, site manager of the SKZ in Peine. “We are particularly pleased to be able to run the course in cooperation with our long-standing partner SimpaTec.”
“Virtual product development enables companies to reduce costs, save time and make a decisive contribution to sustainability,” adds Dr. Michael Bosse, seminar leader and Technical Sales Manager at SimpaTec. "Thanks to the cooperation with the SKZ, we can convey the optimization potential of digital product development in a practical way. We are looking forward to exciting discussions and active knowledge transfer in this new joint seminar."
The course will take place on July 03 and 04, 2025 at the SKZ location in Peine.
