• First Catena-X-based Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) system deployment in the Asian automotive sector
  • Proactive response to global carbon regulations such as automotive LCA, battery regulation, and Digital Product Passport
  • Plan to expand system coverage to key components like batteries and supplier GHG emissions
  • KGM to strengthen its foundation as a carbon regulation leader and ESG-driven company through this collaboration

Glassdome (www.glassdome.com) has signed an agreement with KG Mobility (www.kg-mobility.com, hereafter KGM) to establish a Catena-X-based Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) system in response to EU carbon neutrality regulations.

The signing ceremony, held on June 2 at Glassdome’s Seoul office, was attended by Glassdome Korea CEO Jin-Ki Ham, KGM R&D Planning Head Yong-Heon Lee, and other stakeholders.

Glassdome, a carbon footprint data management company, is the first in Asia to be officially certified as a PCF calculation tool by Catena-X—an industry-governed data ecosystem.

PCF (Product Carbon Footprint) refers to the quantification of carbon emissions throughout a product’s life cycle—from raw material extraction to disposal and recycling. As Catena-X collects and shares primary carbon and product data in line with international standards within the automotive supply chain, obtaining certification from Catena-X is critical for European exports.

This project marks the first initiative in Asia’s automotive sector to build a PCF system connected to Catena-X, making it a meaningful milestone in the field.

Through the collaboration, KGM aims to not only establish PCF systems for models like the Torres Hybrid and Musso EV but also proactively respond to global carbon regulations, including automotive Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), battery regulations, and the Digital Product Passport (DPP).

Moving forward, the system will be expanded to include carbon data for key components such as batteries, engines, and chassis, as well as GHG emissions from supplier facilities, to build a carbon management process aligned with global standards.

KGM stated, “As global carbon regulations shift from site-level to source- and product-level management, managing emissions by product life cycle is becoming essential. This partnership with Glassdome will enable us to take a proactive stance on global carbon regulations and establish ourselves as a leading ESG company.”

Glassdome commented, “This collaboration with KGM is a pivotal moment for decarbonization and digital transformation in Asia’s automotive manufacturing industry. By leveraging our globally certified Catena-X-based technology and commercialized data-driven carbon management solutions, we aim to make KGM a model ESG leader for the Asian market.”
