The new facility stands not only for growth and innovation but also as a clear commitment to sustainability and modern architecture. The climate-positive building, certified according to DGNB standards (German Sustainable Building Council), was ceremoniously inaugurated in May.

Project owners Markus and Jennifer Juchheim welcomed numerous guests from business and politics, including District Administrator Thorsten Erny, Lahr’s Lord Mayor Markus Ibert, Member of the Bundestag Dr. Johannes Fechner, and Dominik Fehringer from Nectanet GmbH. The visitors were impressed by both the technical and architectural quality of the new site.

“Our facility in Lahr provides a strong and future-proof foundation for continuing JULABO’s growth path with a consistent focus on sustainability,” emphasized CEO Markus Juchheim. “With this new location, we’ve created urgently needed production capacities. At the same time, the freed-up space at our headquarters in Seelbach can be increasingly used for key areas such as service and product development. This enables us to meet the needs of our global customers even better.”

The entire Lahr site, covering approximately 30,000 m², also offers further potential for future expansion. Its strategically advantageous location near the A5 motorway, close to the French border, and with good access to public transportation, makes the location attractive for future new members of the JULABO family.

JULABO sends a strong signal for the Lahr region

Markus Ibert, Lord Mayor of Lahr and Chairman of the special-purpose association IGP, also acknowledged the company’s commitment: “JULABO’s investment sends a strong signal for the intermunicipal industrial and business park in the Lahr area. Especially in economically challenging times, the establishment of a technology-leading company is an enormously important boost for our region. It creates high-quality jobs and strengthens the industry mix in our park. The JULABO example clearly shows once again: the intermunicipal association offers great opportunities for regional companies to grow right here in the region.”

Seelbach’s Mayor Michael Moser highlighted the positive development of the largest employer in the Schutter Valley: “I am naturally very pleased that JULABO, as an innovative and successful company, continues to invest and grow – this is an important commitment to the company’s long-term viability. For Seelbach as a municipality, it is a valuable sign that JULABO remains loyal to its headquarters and roots, continuing to concentrate key areas such as administration, research, development, and custom manufacturing here.”

The architectural design of the project was led by Keienburg Architekten. Architect Lioba Keienburg explained the project’s unique aspects: “We placed great emphasis on combining cost-efficiency, functionality, and climate protection. From recycling old hangar materials to using renewable raw materials and achieving climate-neutral energy supply via a photovoltaic system, the building meets the highest ecological standards. Moreover, it is designed to be flexible and ready for any type of repurposing, restructuring, or modification.”

At the end of the opening ceremony, Markus Juchheim expressed his thanks and appreciation to all JULABO colleagues involved. “The entire team worked excellently during the planning, construction phase, and relocation of the production lines and logistics from Seelbach to Lahr,” said Juchheim in conclusion. “This was the only way we could complete everything precisely on schedule. A truly outstanding achievement!”
