The intelligent use of existing urban infrastructure with high technical availability convinced the jury in all relevant Red Dot categories. The curb charger offers a space-saving alternative to conventional charging infrastructure, thus circumventing the problem of limited space availability in both public and private areas. The modular design enables fast, flexible, scalable and cost-efficient installation of charging points. With these unique features, the charging solution has already attracted considerable interest from cities, communities, charging point operators and stakeholders since last year, and has recently been put into regular operation after a very successful one-year field study in Cologne.
This is the initial start for serial production. The product impressed at this year’s Red Dot Design Award a jury of 43 experts from 21 countries, including designers, professors, journalists and consultants from various disciplines, and has triumphed over contributions from over 60 countries. The Red Dot award ultimately certifies outstanding design quality on an international level. The award ceremony will take place on 8 July 2025 at the Aalto-Theatre in Essen. Afterwards, celebrations will be held at the Red Dot Design Museum on the grounds of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Zeche Zollverein
