From June 24 to 27, 2025, the world’s leading trade fair for automation and robotics – Automatica – will take place in Munich. Rheinmetall will present innovative solutions in robotics and automation and demonstrate how these can be integrated into modern data ecosystems and AI applications.

Its subsidiary, YardStick Robotics GmbH, will showcase pioneering developments at various partner booths:

  • YARO Cobot: An extremely robust collaborative robot designed for reliable operation in harsh, unstructured outdoor environments.
  • Pick & Place: Thanks to dynamic object recognition, intelligent planning, and motion control, the AI-powered YARO Cobot can autonomously detect and precisely handle unknown objects.

At the Synapticon GmbH booth, the YARO Cobot will demonstrate its design for extreme environmental conditions. Placed in a water-filled basin, the robot will prove its resilience, high protection class, and precision performance in challenging conditions. The high demands on hardware – including actuators from Synapticon – and AI-based software solutions are the foundation for applications in areas that have, until now, been nearly impossible to automate.

A live Pick & Place demonstration will take place at the RoX research consortium booth. Visitors will see how the YARO Cobot, through dynamic object detection, motion planning, and control, can operate dependably in unstructured settings – such as outdoor environments or dynamic production processes – even when faced with previously unknown variables.

Moreover, the RoX research project will also show how an open, sovereign data and service ecosystem can form the basis for the development and operation of AI-based robotics in the future. The aim is to make the entire life cycle of modern robotic solutions – from development to continuous improvement – data sovereign, sustainable and energy-efficient. RoX cooperates closely with European initiatives such as Manufacturing-X and 8ra and is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection.

YardStick Robotics GmbH specializes in AI-driven robotic solutions for extreme and unpredictable deployment scenarios. Its systems – especially the YARO Cobot – are designed for the notorious “dull, dirty & dangerous” tasks. The company develops robotic technologies for use cases ranging from deep-sea exploration to future extraterrestrial missions. Its core mission is to bring safe automation to industries that have previously lacked access to robotics – true to the company motto: “Robots for the World’s Toughest Jobs.”

Automatica 2025 will be open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, June 24 to 27.
