The Inner Wheel Club Stuttgart added a special cultural and social highlight to the city’s calendar with its annual Cinema Matinee on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at the WAC Stuttgart. The award-winning film CRANKO by Dr. Joachim A. Lang was screened — with the director himself in attendance. Around 150 Inner Wheel members, partners, and guests took part in the event, which impressed not only through cinematic artistry but also through its spirit of commitment and community.

Thanks to donations totaling €5,000, the Club will support Inner Wheel Fund projects that benefit children in need and women facing hardship.

A Tribute to a Stuttgart Legend

The film CRANKO tells the life story of the great choreographer John Cranko, who transformed the Stuttgart Ballet in the 1960s from a small company into an internationally celebrated ensemble — making Stuttgart a world center of dance.
Director Joachim A. Lang, renowned for his sensitive portrayals of artists, created a film about art and reality, about people and their relationships, about love and death.
During the discussion that followed, Lang offered the audience exclusive insights into the making of the film and reflected on Cranko’s legacy, which continues to shape the city’s cultural life to this day.

Friendship, Helpfulness, and Responsibility

The Inner Wheel Club Stuttgart is part of Inner Wheel International, the world’s largest women’s service network, with over 100,000 members in 104 countries. The Stuttgart Club currently counts 65 members and supports social projects both locally and internationally.

“It was a great honor to welcome Prof. Dr. Lang and a moving experience to watch this extraordinary film together and discuss it afterward,” said Anna-Maria Krauth-Huber, one of the event organizers. “Moments like this connect art, compassion, and humanity in a truly special way.”

About Inner Wheel
Inner Wheel is the world’s largest women’s service organization and has been committed for over 100 years to social projects, education, health, and international understanding. Worldwide, the organization unites more than 108,000 women in over 100 countries — including 8,146 members in 218 clubs across Germany, all of whom dedicate their time and energy to serving society on a voluntary basis.

In District 86 (Southwest Germany) alone, 1,516 women across 42 clubs raised a remarkable €2.4 million in donations during 2024/2025. These funds supported 584 projects for children, 288 initiatives for women, 136 programs for seniors, 70 drug assistance projects, and 142 additional social causes.
This impressive record was presented at the 68th District Conference in July 2025 at the Sparkassenakademie Baden-Württemberg, with keynote addresses from State Parliament President Muhterem Aras MdL, Dr. Frank Nopper, Mayor of Stuttgart, and Dr. Matthias Neth, President of the Baden-Württemberg Savings Banks Association.

Our work addresses some of today’s most pressing social issues:

  • Volunteering and social responsibility
  • Women in leadership and visibility
  • Education and equal opportunity
  • Social cohesion

A recent example is our nationwide project “Leuchttürme” (Lighthouses), which celebrated its grand finale in Stuttgart from September 20–22, 2024, marking the 100th anniversary of Inner Wheel. Since the beginning of the year, ten children’s homes in independent sponsorship have already been supported with material donations — driven by a wave of dedication and solidarity. We are now approaching the milestone of €200,000 in donations, a visible testament to the power and impact of women’s commitment.
