CCL Faubel will present the latest version of its Faubel-Logistics Label at LogiMAT 2026 (Hall 2, Booth 2D07). This digital labeling solution is designed for users in logistics, production, and automation. It is particularly suited for reusable containers and load carriers in Kanban and closed-loop processes. The Logistics Label uses RFID technology to wirelessly update an E-Paper display, which visually represents the variable data stored on the RFID tag. Since the Logistics Label operates without a battery, it is exceptionally durable and maintenance-free.

Focus on Update Times

CCL Faubel has its own development department for digital labeling—so-called Smart Labels—and has continuously optimized the Logistics Label since its market launch five years ago. Update times have been reduced by up to 50 percent. “This improvement significantly enhances process efficiency, for example when converting Kanban containers or relocating load carriers,” explains Christian Spanuth, Product Lead New Technology at CCL Faubel GmbH. “Our customers save time with every update—and that directly impacts their return on investment.”

Integration into IT and Process Landscapes

With its Smart Printer Service, CCL Faubel introduces an innovative, locally operated solution that combines printing and update processes at fixed workstations in warehouses and production areas for the first time. The service runs on desktop PCs or industrial terminals and processes print jobs from ERP, WMS, or similar systems—without cloud connectivity and without additional mobile devices. The Smart Printer Service is specifically designed for stationary update stations. Label updates are triggered automatically as soon as a label is placed on an HF reader, seamlessly integrating into established printing, approval, and production workflows. “The Smart Printer Service is a fully local update solution that integrates into existing IT and process landscapes—without creating isolated systems,” says Spanuth.

Additionally, CCL Faubel’s Android SDK enables direct integration of the update logic into existing customer apps. Label updates can be controlled directly from the application, including progress indicators, status messages, and reading the unique UID for tracking and status queries.

OPC UA Interface

The Smart Device Service of the Faubel-Logistics Label supports an OPC UA interface, allowing secure, structured data exchange. “With the OPC UA interface, we are opening the Logistics Label to connected industrial environments,” Spanuth explains. “This makes the Smart Label a fully integrated component of modern automation and digitalization strategies.”

IP65 Protection for Demanding Environments

The Logistics Label is now available in standard display sizes of 4.2 inches and 2.9 inches with IP65 protection. The key new feature is complete dust resistance: while the label was already reliably protected against water jets from all directions, the added dust protection opens up new application areas.

Thanks to IP65 certification, the Logistics Label is now suitable for highly dust-laden industrial environments with fine, dry particles, where conventional electronic labels often fail. It can also be used in clean zones or controlled environments. With this enhancement, CCL Faubel significantly expands the application possibilities of the Logistics Label, from traditional logistics settings to demanding industrial production areas.
