The Imaging Source, international manufacturer of machine vision cameras and industrial imaging software, announces that its Acuva series of GMSL2 cameras has officially entered series production. With series production now underway, Acuva cameras are available for regular ordering and integration into a variety of embedded vision applications.

The Imaging Source: One Partner. One Solution. Complete Confidence.
As The Imaging Source’s first camera family featuring a GMSL2 interface, Acuva combines high-speed data transmission, extended cable reach, and a rugged IP67-rated housing with a complete ecosystem of accessories. The series is designed to simplify embedded vision integration while delivering the robustness and reliability needed for demanding embedded applications.

The Acuva series strengthens The Imaging Source’s embedded portfolio by offering system developers a cost-effective and scalable path to connect high-performance image sensors with powerful edge-processing platforms. With data rates of up to 6 Gbps, Acuva cameras support reliable, low-latency image transmission and simplified system design via Power over Coax (PoC) over distances of up to 15 meters.

The production lineup includes multiple sensor options to address a wide range of embedded vision requirements:
onsemi AR0234: 2.3 MP, global shutter
Sony IMX900: 3.2 MP, global shutter
Sony IMX568: 5.1 MP, global shutter
onsemi AR2020: 20 MP, rolling shutter

This sensor portfolio enables Acuva cameras to support applications ranging from fast-moving scenes to high-resolution inspection tasks.

Complete Ecosystem for Faster Integration
To reduce development effort and integration risk, The Imaging Source supports Acuva with a complete GMSL2 ecosystem, including reference designs for NVIDIA® Jetson Orin™ NX, NVIDIA® Jetson Orin Nano™ (JetPack 6.2 and newer), IP67-rated coaxial cabling, M12 lenses, as well as a 4-channel deserializer board. Together, these components provide a streamlined path from sensor to system and help accelerate time to market.

Validated Platforms for Embedded Vision Systems
Acuva cameras have been validated with embedded vision platforms such as the Neousys NRU-160-AWP, NRU51V, and FLYC-300 series as well as Connect Tech Rudi-N X systems. Pre-verified compatibility with rugged, IP66/IP67-rated industrial computers allows customers to focus on application development rather than platform integration.

“With Acuva now in series production, we’re delivering a robust and scalable GMSL2 camera platform that aligns with our embedded vision strategy and customer demand,” said Momchil Binev, Senior Product Manager at The Imaging Source. “The combination of performance, ecosystem support, and cost-efficiency makes Acuva a strong foundation for scalable
embedded vision systems.”
