When it comes to standard parts, indexing plungers are among the classics – they are simply indispensable across a wide range of applications, and Ganter has no shortage of different types in its product range. And yet, the experts at Ganter still keep finding new niches for indexing plungers with special features, dimensions or functions.

The GN 823 was designed to fill just such a niche – an indexing plunger with a lever. This allows the plunger to be operated easily with just a finger by raising or lowering the lever, even while wearing thick work gloves or when the indexing plunger is situated out of sight. For example, wheelchair users can make adjustments in hard-to-reach places on the back or side of their wheelchair where they can’t see. The lever also directly signals how it should be used, making it an intuitive and convenient solution.

The GN 823 is available in two installation options: for screw fastening with a short standard or fine thread screw of size M10 to M16 or for welding with a surface mounting flange that has two fixing holes on the side. All parts, in other words the guide, plunger pin and pressure spring, are made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel. The black lever of glass fiber-reinforced polyphthalamide (PPA) holds up even under harsh operating conditions. While the lever of the screw-on variant rotates by 360 degrees, the variant with flange can be selected in a version with anti-twist protection, if desired. The lever is then oriented parallel or perpendicular to the mounting direction, which helps with sightless operation, for example.

With the lever of type B, the pin is retracted, in other words disengaged, by pressing the lever down by about 60 degrees. The lever of type C allows the plunger pin to be disengaged either by pressing or raising the lever. Raising the lever still further, past the dead point, causes it to remain in that position, preventing the pin from reengaging.

The lever-operated indexing plungers are available with plunger pin diameters from 4 to 10 mm, making the GN 823 suitable for both delicate installation situations and robust industrial applications. With its diverse range of variants, the GN 823 offers practical solutions with cleverly designed details – just what you would expect from Ganter.
