The ITTF was founded in 1926—the same year the first World Table Tennis Championships were held in London. A century later, the World Championships are returning to the British capital as part of the anniversary celebrations, thereby honoring the sport’s long history and global development.
For around 25 years, the SKZ has been part of this international network as an independent testing partner. In its accredited testing laboratory, the SKZ supports the ITTF in the quality assurance of table tennis equipment, thereby helping to ensure uniform playing conditions in international competitive sports.
A particular focus is on the testing of table tennis balls. Among other things, elasticity (bounce test), rolling behavior (veer test), diameter and roundness, weight, pressure, hardness, and color deviations are examined. The tests are conducted in accordance with ITTF regulations and ensure that the balls meet the high standards of professional competition.
In addition, the SKZ possesses extensive expertise in the testing and certification of plastic products across a wide range of industries. In its testing laboratory, accredited according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025, materials and products are examined using state-of-the-art methods to assess quality, safety, and suitability for use.
“We warmly congratulate the International Table Tennis Federation on its 100th anniversary. It is a great honor for us to have been able to contribute to quality assurance in table tennis as a testing partner for around two and a half decades,” says Udo Dengel, Customer and Project Manager at SKZ. “The collaboration with the ITTF demonstrates how important independent testing and reliable standards are for international sports.”
The SKZ looks forward to continuing its successful partnership with the ITTF in the coming years and to continuing to contribute to quality and fairness in table tennis worldwide.
