Today’s supply chains demand the highest levels of flexibility, transparency, and efficiency. Logistics systems from Bizerba use innovative hardware, openly designed industrial software, and intelligently networked systems to help meet all the requirement profiles of modern value chains. The potential for process streamlining, economic efficiency, and sustainability is enormous, whether for intra- or packaging logistics, e-commerce shipping, or fully automated logistics centers.
Intelligent plug-in for precise weighing results
The logistics industry, which continues to expand, has long since not only been growing in width, but also in height. The inevitable vibrations that occur when using conveyors on mezzanines can develop into critical disturbance variables for reliable weight recording resulting in the need for manual rework and a loss of efficiency. The new Vibration Compensation Module (VCM) from Bizerba will be a highlight at the trade show booth with an intelligent enhancement offered for new equipment as a plug-in and also as an add-on kit for solutions already in use. "With our unique technology and smart sensors, the VCM effectively filters out all external disturbances for precise and reliable weighing in any situation," explains Gerd Kammerer, Director of Product Line Management at Bizerba. "This little tool delivers a huge added value for parcel distribution centers, e-commerce providers, or even the intralogistics sector while creating entirely new opportunities for future growth that is expected in this industry," Kammerer continues.
The Vibration Compensation Module was designed for the dynamic CWL-L in-motion scale specifically, another highlight to be presented at this year’s trade show. When it comes to the CWL-L, it is a perfect match for the requirements of the logistics industry. Even at high throughput speeds of up to 3.1 meters per second or high loads of up to 60 kilograms, the catchweigher, capable of calibration, features precise weighing results. Combined with the new Vibration Compensation Module, it provides robust weighing results even in vibration-prone multi-level upright design.
Optimizing warehouse and shipping processes
Container and packaging management is a major and often underestimated cost-saving factor across the entire supply chain. The combination of smart weighing technology and optical sensor technology makes it possible to verify that containers and shipping cartons are optimally matched to their contents. This is not only helpful for warehouse management but also facilitates continuous optimization toward the optimal shipping carton. "Perfect" packaging yields essential savings when it comes to the design of the cardboard box and the volume of shipping material. In turn, costs are reduced, and sustainability is improved, all while boosting customer satisfaction.
Precision logging of weight and volume is another trend in the area of containers and shipping cartons. The successful collaboration between Bizerba and Metrilus, a German supplier of dimensioning systems, now makes an entire series of dimensioning and weighing systems (DWS) available which are based on the highly innovative computer vision technology "MetriXFreight" and smart weighing technology. On display at the trade show, representing this product family, will be a static DWS that is fully incorporated into Bizerba’s Global Shipping software. With it, all relevant data can be recorded, a shipping label created, and printed out on sustainable Bizerba Linerless labels, in just one process step.
Robust and versatile
Also on display will be a range of iS series terminals and industrial PCs, which are just as suitable for checking, picking, packaging, delivery and documentation tasks as they are for physical inventory.
The powerful iS65 industrial PC will be among the highlights at the Bizerba booth. Developed for continuous operation in demanding industrial environments, it is perfectly designed for use as an information, control or data acquisition terminal. The BRAIN2 software solutions installed by Bizerba ensures that questions concerning order status, machine runtimes or throughput can be quickly clarified. Furthermore, up to two scales can be integrated using standard USB ports without the need for an external power supply.
The iS30 weighing terminal is used to determine weight values quickly and accurately in time-critical applications. The industrial computer visualizes the most important weighing and process data, such as the number of items based on stored reference weights, figures, and charts. It also supports incoming and outgoing goods inspection in the warehouse, compliance with statistical process controls and serves as a counting system. The terminal is also ideal for controlling dynamic processes in the in-motion scales environment.
