The Imaging Source, a leading manufacturer of industrial and embedded cameras, is expanding its 37U camera series with new color and monochrome models featuring the 50.3 MP Sony IMX06A sensor. Combining high resolution with a large 1/0.98-inch sensor and 1.6 µm pixels, the new cameras are designed for imaging applications requiring fine detail across a large field of view, including PCB and semiconductor inspection, metrology, quality assurance, production automation, medical and life sciences.

50 MP Resolution for Detailed Inspection

With a resolution of 50.3 megapixels, the new 37U models enable the capture of fine structures and small features while covering comparatively large inspection areas. This makes the cameras a strong choice for applications in which both high spatial detail and a wide field of view are important.

The Sony IMX06A’s 1/0.98-inch sensor format provides a large imaging area, while its 1.6 µm pixels support effective photon collection for demanding imaging conditions. The rolling-shutter sensor is particularly suited to predominantly static objects and applications with controlled motion, such as electronics inspection, metrology and automated quality control.

“With the 50.3 MP IMX06A, we’re opening the 37U Industrial series to applications where customers need to see significantly more – without making their systems unnecessarily complicated,” says Momchil Binev, Product Manager at The Imaging Source. “For me, that’s what makes this camera particularly compelling: it brings a remarkable amount of imaging capability into a compact USB 3.1 platform. System designers can address demanding inspection tasks with more detail, a large sensor format and a small hardware footprint. The goal is simple: help customers see more, while keeping their systems as straightforward as possible.”

Compact USB 3.1 Platform for Easy Integration

The new 37U Industrial cameras retain the series‘ compact 42 × 42 × 25 mm form factor. The USB 3.1 Type-C interface provides a high-bandwidth connection while supplying camera power directly via USB, simplifying integration into industrial PCs, laboratory systems and OEM equipment.

For integration into automated vision systems, the cameras also provide hardware triggering and I/O connectivity. A C-mount lens interface supports a broad selection of industrial optics, while 10-bit dynamic range enables differentiated image data for precision inspection and measurement applications.

The new 50.3 MP models are available in both color and monochrome variants and are now in regular production and available for order.

New C-Pro Lenses Complement the 50.3 MP Camera Models

Alongside the new IMX06A-based cameras, The Imaging Source is expanding its C-Pro lens portfolio with six new 25 MP lenses, covering focal lengths from 8 to 50 mm and supporting pixel sizes down to 2.4 µm. The new lenses provide additional options for configuring imaging systems around the large-format sensor, combining the optical performance needed for demanding applications with an excellent price-performance ratio. The result is a compelling combination of high-resolution imaging, optical performance and one of the best price-performance ratios available for this class of application.

The new 50.3 MP models extend the 37U Industrial series as a compact, cost-optimized platform for OEM and industrial imaging applications where high resolution, straightforward USB integration and a small hardware footprint are key design requirements.
