On 25 March 2020, THE SCHAUFLER FOUNDATION, together with the Technical University of Dresden and the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences, will host the sixth Art of Compression colloquium. In addition to the topics of art and refrigeration compressors, this year’s theme is all about responsibility.

"Our Responsibilities – Sustainability, Energy and Resource Efficiency" is the motto of this year’s Art of Compression – a colloquium that is held every two years jointly by THE SCHAUFLER FOUNDATION, the Technical University of Dresden and the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences – Technology and Economics. It provides an ideal platform for experts from the refrigeration and air conditioning industry to get informed and to discuss the issues currently determining their field.

On 25 March, renowned personalities from science and industry will give lectures on the responsibility of refrigeration and air conditioning technology. Among the speakers are Dr. Reinhard Rademacher (University of Maryland) and Dipl.-Ing. Thomas Mösch (TU Dresden) with thought-provoking impulses on technological developments of the future, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Reiner Kriesten (Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences) with a lecture on cyber security and Dipl.-Ing. Jörn Schwarz (Ice-TeX Engineering) with approaches to resource efficiency. Consideration will also be given to the arts: the event will start with a guided tour of the current exhibition at the art museum SCHAUWERK Sindelfingen with artworks from the Schaufler collection. Barbara Bergmann, Director of the SCHAUWERK Sindelfingen, will give a lecture on consumer behaviour and recycling in the works of bricolage artist Tom Sachs.

For the first time, the event takes place in the new BITZER headquarters in Sindelfingen, which was inaugurated in mid-2019. In past years, the colloquium had been held in the premises of the SCHAUWERK Sindelfingen. The new venue, which is only a few meters away, allows a larger number of participants. Interested parties can register for the Art of Compression 2020 until 4 March via the following link and also find the agenda there: bit.ly/AoC_2020

Senator h. c. Peter Schaufler (†), owner and CEO of BITZER for many years, founded THE SCHAUFLER FOUNDATION in 2005. He considered it his life’s work to support science, research and teaching in the field of refrigeration and air conditioning technology as well as to promote modern art as an entrepreneur. The foundation now continues this in his name: it is the sponsor of the museum SCHAUWERK Sindelfingen and a shareholder of BITZER SE.

THE SCHAUFLER FOUNDATION, founded in 2005 by Senator h. c. Peter Schaufler (†) and Christiane Schaufler-Münch, is intended to continue the fusion of entrepreneurship with science, research and the arts, which the founders regarded as a life’s work. As owner and CEO of BITZER SE, a global specialist for refrigeration and air conditioning technology, Peter Schaufler has always been interested in the creative combination of technology, science and art. The foundation’s work focuses on supporting universities, for example through endowed professorships, scholarships and research projects. In addition to supporting research and teaching, THE SCHAUFLER FOUNDATION also maintains and preserves the collection of contemporary art Mr and Mrs Schaufler. Part of this impressive collection is shown in changing exhibitions at the SCHAUWERK Sindelfingen.
