With this App, animated 3D models of animals get augmented to the real environment. You can color them, set them into motion, look at them from all angles, capture a video and share it via your social media accounts. A fun benefit is also the Mixed Reality mode for a 3D experience using regular mobile VR-glasses for smartphones.

3DPaintAR is more than just a great fun. It is putting kids for hours in creative flows.

Different to traditional coloring books, children can share the results not only with their families and friends. Via social media, they can proudly present their artwork to the entire world and compare and compete with others.

Learning by playing is the easiest way to understand new technologies like Augmented, Virtual and Mixed Reality, or the power of digital Design. Children can select from a color palette with 16 billion colors creating stunning effects. Why should a horse always be brown? Even purple cows already made it into advertising.

With the new Apple ARKit technology, Augmented Reality is getting increasingly popular for consumers and businesses.

This technology is so interesting and useful that AR Apps are more and more substituting operation manuals, tour guides for cities and exhibitions or product catalogues, just to name a few examples. Of course, AR also enables entirely new and immersive user experiences for computer games and other entertainment programs.

Based on the AR technology, the App Developer “highlewelt” has created the 3DPaintAR App. It is self-explaining, easy to use and appropriate for children.

After the start of the App you select one of the animal models, e.g. a horse. Next you have to create your own pattern / marker by taking a photo of an existing object or picture with many details for the recognition. This could be a coaster, for example. By focusing the marker with the smartphone camera, the horse appears and looks like moving in your home environment. Now you can select the colors for painting the horse. By turning the coaster with the hand you can change the angle. For detailed designs you can even select a smaller brush. The result can be captured in a video and shared via your social media account, e.g. facebook, Twitter or YouTube. For owners of mobile VR-glasses, the Mixed Reality function allows to watch the animated horse in 3D.

The 3DPaintAR App is available in the AppStore for iPhones. The freebie version allows to coloring one animal.

The full version, giving accesses to 12 other 3D animals costs just 1,99 €. It can be easily loaded using the In-App-Purchase function of the iOS AppStore.
