- EFOY Pro fuel cells provide reliable all season power autarky to telecommunication and emergency cabins without requiring any user intervention.
- 10 pilot cabins along Far East Russian highway.
SFC Energy AG (F3C:DE, ISIN: DE0007568578), a leading provider of hybrid power solutions to the stationary and mobile power generation markets, has received a fuel cell order by Russian partner Stabcom Energy. In hybrid operation with solar, SFC Energy’s EFOY Pro fuel cells will deliver power to telecommunication and emergency cabins along the 311 km Kolyma federal highway from Magadan to Yakutsk in the Far East of Russia. Stabcom partner and internet service provider Arbuz LLC is implementing the project with support of the regional government.
A ride on Kolyma track is a dangerous experience: The road winds through rough terrain and over mountain passes exposed to fierce weather. Up to now, there was no mobile phone service along the road. Now, travelers can call for emergency help at ten autonomous cabins. In the heated cabins, they will also find first aid kits, water, food, and warm clothes. Cell phones will have mobile network connection in a radius of 200 m around the stations.
Two EFOY Pro 2400 fuel cells in hybrid operation with solar modules will deliver reliable off-grid power to each cabin. The fuel cell automatically starts operation when the solar module does not deliver enough power in foul weather or in the long Russian winter. Solar/fuel cell hybrid systems will also power traffic-monitoring systems along the complete track. The hybrid power system ensures reliable all-season autonomy of the cabins, without requiring any user intervention.
“Our EFOY Pro/solar hybrid solution significantly increases the safety of travelers on Kolyma highway,” says Kirill Ettenko, Director of Arbuz LLC. “People died here in the past because they could not call for help or did not find shelter from arctic temperatures. Now, there will always be power, heat, and a mobile network connection for them in the cabins.”
“After a long market entry phase, this success with Arbuz and our partner Stabcom clearly demonstrates the perfect suitability and reliability of our EFOY fuel cells as off-grid power source in Russia’s extreme climate and ambient conditions", says Dr. Peter Podesser, CEO of SFC Energy. "Based on our global track record we see a strong medium-term potential in Russia in this market as well as in the oil and gas industry."
