asknet AG has launched the first eProcurement portal of the fourth platform generation. An asknet-operated software portal for a large technical university went online on the new basis at the end of October. Building on the tried-and-tested third generation, the project was aimed at laying a future-proof basis for the portal platform of asknet’s Academics Business Unit. As a result of the migration to the new generation, which also included a design update, the university is now using an expandable and modern technology for its portal.

Thanks to the clear structure and improved modularity, the platform constitutes a stable basis that allows asknet to integrate new technologies and architectures, e.g. the new asknet academics products, which are specifically designed for the fourth generation. Key features of the portal were redeveloped from scratch and directly integrated into the new platform. As a result, the fourth platform generation guarantees increased efficiency in implementing customers’ specific wishes. A new, easy-to-use overview of orders, downloads and licenses, for instance, offers the final customer extensive research possibilities. Another key aspect in the development process was to facilitate a quick set-up for new customers and an effective supply of new features and versions for existing portals.

Michael Baumann, Head of the Academics Business Unit: “We are very satisfied with the implementation of our first new generation software portal. The coming months will see us migrate other existing customers to the fourth generation, and we also have some new customer projects in the pipeline. The reduced complexity of the new platform generation makes things much easier for both our customers and our company and offers real added value.”
