Raynet, Europe’s leading provider of services and products for Application Lifecycle Management, today officially releases the new version 5.1 of its software packaging solution, RayPack Studio.

In addition to renaming its packaging suite to RayPack Studio, Raynet’s new version delivers the most innovative features that raise the world of packaging to a new level.

The Paderborn-based IT specialist already presented the highlights of version 5.1 and impressed the visitors to the full extent at the largest packaging event in the Netherlands in October. Raynet’s new RayPack Studio delivers an even more powerful software packaging and virtualization solution that significantly reduces application deployment times, eliminates many additional tasks and minimizes the risk of errors during rollout.

The most important features of RayPack Studio 5.1 at a glance:

Intelligent management of virtual environments

RayPack Studio allows to remotely manage, start, stop and execute all operations of a packaging process on virtual environments such as clients and servers. No matter whether it is packaging, evaluation or quality assurance procedures. With the new functionality to operate a virtual packaging factory, RayPack Studio enables a wide range of target groups, including freelancers, service providers or end customers, to realize complex packaging projects easily and efficiently with minimal time and organizational effort. The centralized and automated management of virtual environments is the main focus here and, in addition to the rapid change of different customer environments and operating systems, offers a more cost-efficient and comfortable use.

Easy generation of PowerShell App Deployment Toolkit wrappers

When working with packages of different formats, the new wizard now allows you to create a PowerShell App Deployment Toolkit wrapper to perform all necessary steps regardless of package type. PackWrapper generates installer-neutral wrappers that have standardized command lines for installing and uninstalling packages.

Automated repackaging and virtualization

With PackBot – also a new component of RayPack Studio – applications can be automatically repackaged and virtualized on defined virtual machines. PackBot supports various formats, including repackaging of executables in Windows Installer or RayPack projects, and sequencing with Microsoft App-V Sequencer (4.6/5. x) and ThinApp. It is supporting the most common virtualization environments such as VMware Workstation, VMware ESX and Hyper-V.

The integrated product components RayEval, RayQC and RayQC Advanced also contain significant product innovations in addition to stability and performance improvements:

With RayEval, the incomparable software evaluation solution, screenshots can now be captured remotely on virtual machines via the newly integrated user interface. In addition, all image files can now be easily imported and exported in order to adapt documents at any time.

The execution of checklists for the quality assurance of software packages using RayQC can now be done fully automatically. The new user interface makes it easy to add or remove virtual machines. RayQC now also works in silent mode.  From version 5.1 a new plugin that can get registry sub keys is available.

RayQC Advanced, Raynet’s collision and compatibility management solution, can control virtual machines for legacy conversion to the software library in addition to the local machine.

RayPack Studio considers the entire packaging process, unlike the standard products on the market. In order to ensure optimum results at all times, the smart RayEval tool automates the creation of instructions during preparation, which makes a decisive contribution to error-free packaging performance. The following fully automatic execution of a quality assurance by intelligent checklists completes the process in the best possible way.

Optionally, the workflow management system RayFlow is available for all RayPack Studio editions. It offers process-related information on all integrated tools and visualizes packaging projects from the creation of the order until final deployment. Furthermore, it offers the ability to integrate all software products, data, and people who are part of the packaging project, aiming to achieve the best possible communication and coordination with one another. The full integration of all products into RayFlow allows a comfortable and intuitive way to access data and information. This does not only lead to more productivity, but also enables faster work processes.
