SLM solutions, a leading supplier of metal-based additive manufacturing technology, is participating in the Singapore Airshow with a team of experts for the aerospace industry and co-workers from its Singapore Branch. The company from northern Germany will present its SLM 280 2.0 at booth 77 in the German Pavilion.

At the largest airshow in Asia, leading aerospace companies, renowned industrial companies as well as government representatives and aviation experts meet to exchange ideas and to promote the interests of the global aviation sector. In Singapore, the latest aviation systems and related technologies and developments from around the world are presented.

SLM Solutions will exhibit its comprehensive range of services for metal-based additive manufacturing in aviation and aerospace in the Changi Exhibition Center from February 6 to 11, 2018. At trade fair booth L77 in the German Pavilion, the company from northern Germany will present the SLM 280 2.0 and demonstrate how the requirements of customers from the aerospace industry, such as simplified production processes, high material quality, lower costs per part and short lead times, can be realized with additive SLM technology.
The selective laser melting process provides new design freedom, which makes it possible to produce jet engines that have cleaner burning, improved durability and higher efficiency. Another advantage of this technology is the ability to integrate multiple components in one component, as a result of which joining processes can be avoided.

The powerful SLM 280 2.0 has an installation chamber with a size of 280 x 280 x 365 mm³ and patented multi-beam technology with up to 2x 700 W laser power. In addition, bi-directional powder coating contributes to shortening production time of individually manufactured metal components. Specialists from the industry maintain that the greater the Z-axis, the greater the quality. For example, if larger vertical expansion is available, then that component in the machine can be aligned better and the number of necessary support elements reduced. The fewer the number of support elements required, the smaller unwanted tensions inside the component.

SLM solutions works closely with renowned institutes and universities in research and development. Stefan Ritt, VP and Head of Global Marketing and Communication at SLM Solutions Group AG, sees the efforts of SLM Solutions confirmed: "We have been a pioneer and technology leader in the field of additive manufacturing machines for many years and invest in the research and development of machinery and materials. Our systems give companies the opportunity to make the production process more efficient and employ higher degrees of freedom in product development."
