Many tank terminal operators are looking to reduce costs by simplifying their business processes. From 20–22 March, the Implico Group will be demonstrating how this is done at StocExpo Europe, the world’s leading tank terminal trade fair and exhibition. ‘Simplify your business’ is the slogan chosen by Implico at stand J10 to highlight its software and cloud solutions that boost tank terminal process efficiency. Key points of focus will be the new Navigator, the latest handheld solution, the integrated OpenTAS system for terminal management and automation, plus cloud solutions and data services specially designed for the downstream sector.

The Navigator is the core of the OpenTAS terminal management system. It is used to control all of the logistics processes in the tank terminal, especially those involving goods movements with transport types like ships or railcars. Implico has now optimized this core tool and made it even more user-friendly. “The new Navigator guides the employee step by step through the entire process – including the clearance of a railcar train, for example,” explains Implico managing director Stephan Buhre, who is also responsible for OpenTAS development. “All the information that the employee needs is clearly laid out on the device, while any information that is not required is hidden.” This makes clearance work almost as easy as placing an order in an online shop.

The second highlight at Implico’s StocExpo stand is the new handheld solution – a combination of a rugged input device and a specially designed software package. This solution ensures that operating business at the facility – such as railcar clearance on the platform – can be integrated into the OpenTAS terminal management system. Doing away with handwritten notes and manual data entry at a later stage makes the process simpler, quicker and more reliable. The handheld solution has now been thoroughly tested in the field and is generating a lot of interest from the industry.

Terminal management – whatever the mode of transport

Implico will also be showcasing the latest OpenTAS release 6 at the expo. Designed for refineries and tank terminals, the all-in-one solution for terminal administration and automation is suitable for all types of transport and works with any kind of field equipment. Features of release 6 include improved usability and support for the latest hardware, databases and operating systems. The release also introduces a significantly more flexible reporting system.

Visitors to the Implico stand can also find out more about iGOS, a powerful package of cloud solutions, data services, hosting, and housing tailor-made for the downstream industry. This ensures customers always have the latest functionality as a service while requiring no admin effort on their part.

Customer project presentation

Customer case studies will showcase the real-world application of Implico’s solutions. As one example, a UK tank terminal operator has been organizing its ship loading process entirely out of the cloud since last year. One key highlight here is the major project from the MOL Group, which is now synchronizing its primary supply processes in eleven countries to improve transparency and control options, among others. A talk – “How MOL Group harmonizes logistics and business processes” – will provide StocExpo visitors with background information on this project. Radu Mateescu, Project Manager Group Logistics at the MOL Group, will report on the ongoing optimization project on the last day of the trade fair.
