In times of Industry 4.0 and ever more complex production processes, the demand for mobile data collection solutions is increasing. That’s why MPDV offers new apps for smartphones and tablets specifically developed to collect production data. We devised these apps with a user-friendly guidance in mind.

In addition to collecting data with stationary touchscreen terminals or Industrial PCs, MES users can now acquire data simply via a smartphone or tablet with the new apps. The new data collection functions are called up easily and conveniently from a mobile machine overview.

Examples of mobile MES applications

The MES experts speak of so-called Smart MES Applications (SMA) in association with the MES HYDRA from MPDV. Smart MES Applications provide the user with current machine data and KPIs. The new apps supply on smartphone or tablet the classic data collection functions such as "Log on operation", "Change input batch", "Log off person" or "Change resource status". You can find further information on Smart MES Applications under http://mpdv.info/smaen.

Intuitive operation

The grouping of functions according to order, workplace, resources and material ensures a space-saving layout and convenient operation at the same time. A barcode or QR code can be scanned to avoid tedious and error-prone manual data entry via the keyboard.

Maximum flexibility

Similar to the previous data collection functions, all dialogs can be configured so that users can adapt them to the requirements of their recording process without any programming knowledge. Furthermore, the user can create their own data collection dialogs.

Rainer Deisenroth, Vice President Sales / Marketing at MPDV, explains: „The new function package is now available and significantly expands the possibilities and flexibility of data collection in everyday production."

HYDRA, the modular MES by MPDV, fully covers the requirements of the VDI guideline 5600 with its extensive functional spectrum. Individual HYDRA applications can be combined on a central MES data-base in line with requirements and without interfaces. Thus, HYDRA ensures a 360-degree view of all the resources involved in production and can also seamlessly map overlapping processes. Powerful tools for configuration and customizing ensure that HYDRA can be modified to meet specific require-ments for certain industries and companies. HYDRA integrates into existing IT landscapes and serves as a link between the production (shop floor) and the management level (e.g. ERP system). With an MES system like HYDRA, manufacturing companies remain responsive and thus secure their competi-tiveness – also with a view to Industry 4.0.
