The quality level of connectivity services mostly remains hidden to airlines. They have difficulties to judge the level of connectivity performance overall and also to control the SLA performance with contracted service providers. However, they should really switch their focus and start to manage the quality level of connectivity service per each passenger seat. Since passengers use multiple devices and apps at a time, airlines urgently need to address the resulting requirements.

P3 aero systems GmbH (P3), provider of holistic development and technical advisory services to the aerospace industry, has developed a unique methodology and a set of services to support airlines in optimising inflight connectivity. This includes the complete analysis, simulation, testing and optimisation of wireless networks within commercial aircraft cabins – already during the early phase of cabin definition.

With their deep technical knowledge and network testing experience of more than 15 years, P3 helps airlines to select the right connectivity solutions for competitive services. Focusing on system testing and their performance, benchmarking as well as predictive RF simulation with respect to cabin configurations, general cabin furnishing and its material properties, P3 can support and advise customers throughout all phases of connectivity projects. Once being given an early configuration and layout, the company can reliably model the wireless cabin and the potential risk of interference – much prior to aircraft delivery.

Markus Michelt, Managing Director P3 aero systems explains: "Very often, in-flight connectivity will not deliver what it promises. Not for the passenger using it, not for the airline providing it. With the performance frequently poor and the service inconvenient to link up with, the price-performance ratio is currently poor. And the market does little to make life easier for customers."

"What we do is unique. By using real end user devices, we are able to translate customer use cases into test setups – in a fully automated way. Therefore, we set up a representative test environment with transparent and realistic user scenarios. Together with our holistic service, this makes our approach unique and gives us a head start in the market," says Bernd Knobe, Managing Director P3 aero systems. "In our highly connected world, airline passengers wish to get stable online services inside the aircraft cabin. With our global expertise – both in aerospace and telecommunications – we can help airlines to bring their passenger experience on board to a whole new level."

From April 10 to April 12, P3 aero systems will be at the Aircraft Interiors Expo 2018, booth 2D55. P3 aero system executives will be available for expert discussion. If you wish to schedule an appointment, please send an email to p3@cream-communication.com
