IMCo, the global leader in smart shelf technology that offers innovative retail shelf solutions for digitalization right at the POS and, Checkpoint Systems, a leading global supplier of Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS), RFID solutions and Alpha High-Theft Solutions for retail, announced their joint cooperation today. Checkpoint will resell the IMCo Smart Shelf products in North America.

Now the patented IMCo Smart Shelf is also available for North American retailers to stop professional shoplifters before they act. To make their retail shelves fully intelligent, IMCo Smart Shelf technology offers two product versions: the IMCo Hook and the IMCo Push.

Both versions work right at the retail shelf and monitor the interaction between product and customer. Product removals are registered and indicated with a muted sound. This evidently increases the risk for opportunistic thieves and professional thieves already at the POS. Atypical multiple product removals cause an alarm so that potential thefts create immediate awareness. Store associates are informed right away and can intervene in a customer oriented manner. As an added feature, the IMCo shelf technology can be used as a data source to increase the shelf availability. The product removal and return data allows out of stock detection in real time.

“We are excited about our partnership with Checkpoint in North America,” said Georg Hachmann, CEO, IMCo. “Thousands of our intelligent products have already been installed around the globe and retailers have seen, on average, losses reduced by 50 percent and sales increased by 10 percent. We expect similar results for Checkpoint customers.”

According to Stuart Rosenthal, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Checkpoint’s Alpha High-Theft Solutions, “ORC continues to play a large role in retail shrink losses, and this agreement with IMCo enables us to provide broader and highly efficient and smart solutions to our customers.”
