• Canadian Oil & Gas producer has ordered remote power packages complete with SCADA technology and EFOY Pro fuel cell.
  • Simark product solution will be used in establishing the customer’s new operations in North Eastern British Columbia.
  • Order amounts to approx. CAD 125,000.

Simark Controls Ltd., a subsidiary of SFC Energy, leading provider of hybrid power solutions to the stationary and mobile power generation markets, has received an order for fully integrated, turnkey remote power packages for oil & gas applications. The power packages come prewired and fully equipped with SCADA technology and SFC Energy’s EFOY Pro fuel cell for off-grid operation of equipment at the customer’s newly established oil & gas operations in North Eastern British Columbia, Canada. The order amounts to approx. CAD 125,000.

Simark’s integrated SCADAPack systems are used to locally control four of the customer’s pipeline riser sites. The solution with EFOY Pro fuel cell was selected due to its flexibility and ultra fast set up and removal at the site, eliminating the need to tap into existing pipelines for power.

The high energy density of the EFOY Pro’s fuel is a major benefit for the customer. Due to their low weight replacement fuel cartridges can easily be transported to remote test locations, for uninterrupted system operation even in conditions with limited accessibility to the sites due to rough weather. The fuel’s high stability in extreme conditions also played a significant role in the customer’s selection of Simark’s solution with EFOY Pro fuel cell.

“The customer wanted ultimate power reliability. Operation of the SCADA systems at the sites must be ensured 24/7,” says Derek L’Hirondelle, Vice President of Process Automation & Energy at Simark Controls. “Our integrated SCADAPack systems are customized plug & play solutions, designed to meet the toughest application demands. The EFOY Pro fuel cell is a real asset, as it provides 100% reliable, environmentally friendly, weather independent power, anytime, anywhere.  We are continuing to see a growing demand for this technology in the oil & gas industry.”
