• Red Hat Virtualization, a leading open source virtualization solution, is now certified to run virtualized SAP HANA workloads, enabling cost-effectiveness, higher performance and scalability to big data operations
  • SEP provides a certified backup and recovery solution for Red Hat Virtualization and SAP HANA
  • SEP offers immediate support for SAP HANA on Red Hat Virtualization

SEP, a provider of platform-independent, hybrid backup and disaster recovery solutions for unified data protection, is one of the first backup solutions certified for SAP HANA on Red Hat Virtualization. Red Hat offers the operating system Red Hat Enterprise Linux for SAP HANA and the hypervisor Red Hat Virtualization, both of which are validated for use with SAP HANA environments. SEP sesam is certified for both SAP and Red Hat and is therefore prepared to offer immediate support for SAP HANA on Red Hat Virtualization.

The combination of Red Hat Virtualization’s backup API, SAP HANA, and SEP’s Hybrid Backup solution is designed to offer more consistent data protection, as well as the compliant recovery of virtual machines (VMs), and the SAP HANA in-memory database. This integrated solution supplies IT administrators utilizing the SEP sesam management interface with a single platform to monitor the data protection status of the IT infrastructure.

“Our collaboration with both Red Hat and SAP created a great solution,” said Georg Moosreiner, CEO of SEP. “We are able to offer a comprehensive backup solution for the robust combination of Red Hat Virtualization and SAP HANA, which will enable customers to better meet their RPO’s and RTO’s.”

“SEP is known in the SAP ecosystem and a Red Hat partner in helping to support SAP environments based on Red Hat solutions,” said Rob Young, manager, Red Hat Virtualization, Red Hat. “We are excited to collaborate with them on a solution that combines SAP HANA workloads on Red Hat Virtualization with the SEP sesam backup solution designed for business critical systems and applications.“

SEP sesam is one of only a few solutions on the market that provides comprehensive data protection for distributed and heterogeneous IT environments. SEP supports a wide variety of virtualization platforms and operating systems, including Microsoft, Linux, Mac, Unix, IBM, FreeBSD and Sun Solaris. Organizations in over 50 countries who use SEP include ALDI Nord, City of Thousand Oaks, Underwriters Safety and Claims, the Port of San Diego, Georgetown University in Washington D.C. and the Technical University of Vienna.
