  • Reliability and flexibility: Mobile communications distributor uses trans-o-flex’s guaranteed next-day delivery for parcels and pallets
  • Speedy delivery and careful shipment are key reasons for awarding contracts to this logistics specialist
  • Connected stores concept: Express delivery part of the strategy to boost regional e-commerce

From June, Brodos AG, one of Germany’s largest mobile communications distributors, will be offering specialist retailers guaranteed next-day deliveries. "And if delivery is not made by the next day, we will refund the retailers the shipping costs," says Florian Stubenhofer, Supply Chain Manager at Brodos AG. To ensure that things do not come to this and that retailers can rely on delivery by the next day, Brodos has opted for trans-o-flex’s new guaranteed next-day service. To date, Brodos has promised retailers that goods ordered before 7pm would be shipped the same day. Stubenhofer: "We are now going one step further and promising that orders received by 5pm will be delivered the next day." The money-back guarantee, which Brodos will also receive from trans-o-flex, underscores the service provider’s ability to actually make the deliveries the next day nationwide.

For Brodos, the service promise is a further step in the omni-channel concept of connected stores, which it has pursued for years. The basis is the system platform brodos.net, which was developed by the company itself. This enables a connected store to offer its customers goods from huge multimedia catalogue systems both in shops and online. The offer combines locally available products with the available ranges of leading distributors and specialist wholesalers. "Our goal is to make online shopping a regional matter in future, with customers benefitting from the combination of both channels – online and offline."

Fast and guaranteed next-day delivery is a key element of this strategy. "This is the only way our retailers can compete with the delivery offers of pure online platforms," says Stubenhofer. Key factors for awarding the express contract to trans-o-flex, however, were the low damage rate and the option of combining goods in parcels with those on pallets. "In the past, we only used trans-o-flex for palletised goods. We have been testing their ‚combi-freight‘ combined service very thoroughly and extensively since October 2017. And we have seen how this service makes our shipping much more flexible and faster with zero damage rate."

For trans-o-flex, Brodos AG is one of the company’s core target groups. "We specialise in the pharmaceutical, cosmetics, electronics and other high-end sensitive goods sectors," says CEO Wolfgang P. Albeck. "That’s why we are all the more pleased that Brodos has recognised the added value of our new express solutions and integrated them so intelligently into its offering. This will strengthen regional retailers throughout Germany, as it greatly enhances the buying experience of local customers. What is not available in the shop will be delivered by the next day." From June, Brodos is planning to ship several hundred consignments a day using the Guaranteed Next-Day Service.
