Since the beginning of 2018, the signature pads signotec Sigma with the signature software signoSign/2 have been widely used in the European Hornbach markets. By digitally signing and recording customer orders and delivery notes, the leading DIY retailer and garden centre operator not only saves an immense amount of paper, but also the associated workload. Acceptance on the part of customers is consistently positive.

Following a successful test run in two markets, the signotec Sigma signature pad for signing order confirmations and delivery note invoices has been introduced in almost all European markets throughout the Hornbach Group since the beginning of 2018. The process is very simple: If a customer wants to order goods, make reservations or take advantage of services such as assembly and supply, Hornbach offers the service to create an order at each information desk. Likewise, goods ordered online can be fetched at the pick-up counter. The customer receives a single printout with which he can make a down payment at the cash register or pay for his goods collection. The order number and payment amount of the order confirmation or delivery note invoice generated in SAP are displayed directly on the signature pad signotec Sigma. Based on this information, the customer can check the order details on his paper printout. Subsequently, the document is signed and processed paperless with the software signoSign/2. The electronic document signed on the signature pad is simultaneously imported back into SAP and archived. Hereby all legal requirements of the storage obligation are fulfilled, and the printout of the internal copy can be dispensed with. This not only eliminates the second term in a simple and efficient way, but also the labor-intensive sorting and filing of the former paper receipts.

"For many years, document filing has been time-wasting for our project and service center colleagues. With the introduction of signpads, it’s finally possible to digitally store orders and delivery notes. This eliminates the need for more daily paperwork so that the Hornbach employees have more time for advice and service, which, in consequence, directly benefits our customers. At the same time, we save several million pages of paper per year and space for filing – a great additional effect, "says Ralf Pahl, Project Manager Market Processes at HORNBACH Baumarkt AG. The numbers speak for themselves: the use of 3,000 signature pads saved tons of paper. As a result, the company not only contributes to the protection of the environment, but also achieves significant cost savings. The best confirmation that switching to the signature pad signotec Sigma was the right decision was provided by the customers: they immediately took up and implemented the new procedure in a positive way.
