At Bauma 2019, from 8 – 14 April, the concrete conveying expert Putzmeister will be presenting its comprehensive product range for all tunnel construction processes. Safety, speed and flexibility are at the forefront of all solutions. The aim: Higher profitability with tunnel construction projects.

The key to cost-efficient solutions lies in the efficient use of resources. This is aided by automated processes and solutions matched to the task at hand. As an innovation leader in concrete conveying, Putzmeister can boast an extensive range of concreting products especially for tunnel construction – on show at Bauma 2019: Mortar machines, optimally designed for micropile injection, ultra-modern concrete pumps and mixers for smooth concrete logistics, as well as sophisticated spray concrete solutions for cladding, and much more. "The fact that we are close to customers and their needs in tunnel construction too is shown by one of many examples: Our automated FORMKRET formwork filling system reduces personnel expenditure while increasing application reliability. In addition, it reduces project run times through minimal cleaning effort and the ability demand to run operations in parallel", reports Michael Hoess, Head of the Special Application Business Department.

Automated instead of manual, parallel instead of sequential operations

With its intelligent system for formwork filling, the construction machine manufacturer from Aichtal has set its focus on minimising operating costs. Simply by reducing the usual personnel expenditure for the installation, maintenance, cleaning and operation of various components. The combination of FORMKRET and intelligent concrete logistics, such as a stationary concrete pump, significantly reduces the number of manual operations. This increases safety at the workplace and accelerates the process as a whole. Cleaning is equally efficient. The FORMKRET principle: Concrete placing is controlled by two-way valves integrated into the formwork structure. This allows larger or multiple shutters to be filled in parallel.

Sophisticated concrete logistics offers high output from a small space

Taking the application and job site situation into account, Putzmeister provides the best solutions for the fast transport of concrete to the placement location. In addition to the proven stationary concrete pumps and delivery lines, various truck mixers are used – all with a lower profile designed for tunnel construction. So the concrete arrives where it’s required without any loss of quality. They are the ideal partner for spray concrete solutions from Putzmeister, for example. All vehicles and mixer drums are especially robust, reliable and low-maintenance, such as the P 7 for example, on which TBL steel was used with a 30 percent higher wear resistance than conventional construction steel. The compact mixer and transport vehicles from the MIXKRET range are also robust and durable. They are designed for very narrow job sites such as tunnel sections, for example. Consequently, they boast incredible manoeuvrability and climbing ability.

When it comes to placement, the "small" truck-mounted concrete pump M 24-4 does a great job, especially when concreting floors and ceilings. It works in an efficient, space-saving manner and, with its flexible ZR fold placing boom – the best slip characteristics – reaches practically every point. Rotary distributors are also ideal for distributing concrete over a wide area or for concreting columns, for instance. They are fast and simple to set up and retool.

Stabilising and securing with highly-productive spray concrete machines

For concrete spraying for tunnel and underground job sites, Putzmeister relies on highly reliable machines on all-wheel drive or crawler chassis. The name: WETKRET. Spray concrete machines, which offer remote-controlled precise concreting up to a reach of 17 m with an output of up to 30 m3/h .

All WETKRET machines are comprehensively equipped and therefore highly economical, for example through:

  • An integrated electrical onboard compressor
  • The convenient and precise control of all movements of the chassis, support legs, spray arm and spray head by remote control
  • Automatic additive dosing for high spray concrete quality

Injecting and filling with mortar – Efficiency and reliability with pump power

If walls and floors are to be stabilised by (micro) piles and the bearing capacities increased, they can be firmly anchored by mortar injection and grouting. Even in cramped conditions, these Putzmeister pumps make operations simpler and faster:

The S 5 EVTM worm pump – the micropile specialist. Thanks to pan mixers, high-quality materials such as injection mortar, backfill and anchor mortar can be mixed, and the P 13 – an all-rounder for mixing, pumping and spraying even the most difficult job site mixtures.

Developments at the construction machine manufacturer from Aichtal benefit from more than 50 years experience. New innovations offer diverse possibilities for making concrete conveying process more efficient, even in tunnel construction.

Additional information on all Putzmeister solutions to be presented at Bauma 2019 can be found on the Putzmeister trade fair stand in Hall B6.
