maincubes, a European data center operator offering an expanding number of ‘German-engineered’ facilities to colocation clients across Europe including DAX-listed companies, has received the ISO/IEC 27001:2013 ‘information security’ certification for its recently opened AMS01 colocation data center in Amsterdam Schiphol-Rijk, the Netherlands. The certification has been validated by TÜV, an independent global provider of operational inspection and certification services headquartered in Germany.

The ISO/IEC 27001:2013 audits conducted by TÜV – a large independent auditor from Germany with more than 10,000 employees worldwide – have been done to ensure an effective, enterprise-grade protection of valuable data assets inside maincubes’ AMS01 colocation data center in Amsterdam Schiphol-Rijk. maincubes had to prove to TÜV that they have proper controls in place to successfully protect customer data.

Compliance with the ISO/IEC 27001:2013 standard being achieved now allows maincubes to extend its existing ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certificate from maincubes Frankfurt, Germany (FRA01) to the maincubes’ AMS01 data center in Amsterdam Schiphol-Rijk, the Netherlands. Next to that, TÜV has also successfully audited the maincubes headquarters in Frankfurt. It means that the whole maincubes organization is now certified according to the ISO/IEC 27001:2013 information security standard.

“As the CTO of maincubes I am pleased with TÜV’s successful audit results and the achievement of the ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certification for our new data center in Amsterdam Schiphol-Rijk,” said Albrecht Kraas, CTO and co-founder of maincubes. “It’s a nice reward for our ‘German-engineered’ data center development approach. Our German-oriented approach has an influence on the technologies being selected, on the setups of our data center infrastructure, but of course also on the information security processes that have been implemented. As a ‘German-engineered’ data center operator, we are attaching great value to information security and the protection of our clients’ IT and data infrastructures.”

10 Million Euro Investment

Germany-based auditor TÜV has validated various information security related processes within the maincubes Amsterdam AMS01 organization. This includes: separation of duties, documentation of organizational processes, business continuity, security incident reporting, the handling and embedding of organizational knowledge, HR policies and procedures, and much more.

“We have invested more than 10 million euros in the re-development of our Amsterdam Schiphol-Rijk data center,” said Joris te Lintelo, Director at maincubes. “We have chosen a smart cooling setup with Free Cooling technology in Amsterdam to achieve maximum energy-efficiency results. We have created ultimate power redundancy by using an N+1+1 setup for our generator infrastructure. We don’t take any risk, that’s to say. The same accounts for our organizational processes. Our German-engineered approach proactively calls for strict adherence to compliance with the highest information security standard, namely ISO/IEC 27001:2013.”

DAX-Listed Users, Private Suites

Joris te Lintelo expects that the ‘German-engineered’ approach combined with the ISO/IEC 27001:2013 information security certification being achieved will add to the attractiveness of the maincubes AMS01 colocation data center in Amsterdam Schiphol-Rijk as a premises whereto enterprises can hassle-free outsource their IT infrastructures.

“In Frankfurt FRA01 we already signed up two DAX-listed companies and some other high-profile customers, including customers active within automotive and telecommunications,” added Te Lintelo. “These customer successes are definitely the result of our keen eye for technical and organizational details as well as our nose for enterprise requirements. The recently completed data center suites in the maincubes AMS01 facility, with a capacity of 1.7MW and 1.3MW respectively, are also designed with the highest enterprise requirements in mind. Frankfurt still has some free space left but is now filling up quickly with enterprise clients and customers with likewise data center expectations. For Amsterdam Schiphol-Rijk we’re expecting the same scenario.”

“German-engineered doesn’t mean inflexible by the way,” added Te Lintelo. “On the contrary, as our colocation customers in Amsterdam as well as Frankfurt can practically choose whichever brand or data center setup they would like to have. This includes racks, aisle containment, power distribution, cabling management and much more.”
