Avnet Silica, an Avnet company (Nasdaq: AVT), has announced that it has won the award for the fastest growing distributor in the EMEA region from STMicroelectronics (ST), a leading global semiconductor manufacturer and one of the top silicon vendors across Europe and the wider EMEA region.

A key factor was Avnet Silica’s exceptionally high level of augmented sales of ST products and technologies — with double-digit growth in 2018 compared to the previous year. The distributor also achieved significant growth for ST based on sales of standard products, as well as creating new demand with a raft of new design opportunities. In addition to this company-wide distribution award, 15 members of Avnet Silica’s engineering team received individual merit awards for ‘outstanding performance in demand creation’ and ‘outstanding contribution for growth’.

Targeting a diverse range of applications in different markets including industrial, medical, communications and multimedia, Avnet Silica distributes a wide portfolio of ST products including analogue, discrete, and digital-logic components, including ARM-core-based microcontrollers, along with power management ICs and MEMS sensors.

“This is a significant feather in our cap for Avnet Silica, especially coming from one of the largest semiconductor vendors in Europe and the world,” said Mario Orlandi, President at Avnet Silica. “ST has a fantastic mix of products ranging from leading-edge analogue and mixed-signal devices to a wide portfolio of MEMS-based sensors for the IoT to its industry-leading STM32 series of microcontrollers and development kits.”

“Avnet Silica has earned ST’s recognition as its fastest growing distributor in EMEA because of their success in growing sales as well as maximising new design opportunities for our products,” said Frank Wolinski, EMEA Region Vice President EMEA Distribution Sales at STMicroelectronics. “Contributing to this, we also gave special individual awards to 15 members of their engineering team to recognise those engineers’ work in helping us to achieve key distribution sales targets.”
