The Handbook for the Development and Standardization of Metallic Material Properties (MMPDS) is the recognized source of design data for metallic materials in the aerospace industry. The data is recognized by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Department of Defense (DoD) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The manual and data are maintained and published by the Battelle Memorial Institute. Matplus GmbH is a licensee for the MMPDS and now also makes the system available online.

As early as 2018, MATPLUS signed an agreement with the American BATTELLE Institute for the marketing of MMPDS data. Under the auspices of BATTELLE, the MMPDS data (www.mmpds.org) are compiled by international material experts from industry and research according to clearly defined rules. They are the only aviation material data released by the American FAA.

So far, working with the MMPDS manual for European designers has been difficult due to American units and designations. In addition, the wealth of available data goes beyond the classic book application. The new database solution, first introduced in March to the MMPDS subject matter expert in Baton Rouge, USA, https://www.mmpds.org/ … is the answer to these challenges.

For the first time, users receive a multilingual solution with advanced data content, automatic unit conversion and extensive analysis functions. This includes statistical evaluations, comparisons and comprehensive visualization options / diagrams. The technical basis for the cloud solution is the new material data system EDA®, which is increasingly being used by industrial users. "The fully parametric representation of the material data in EDA significantly simplifies the use of the previously unwieldy MMPDS", explains Dr. med. Uwe Diekmann, Managing Director at Matplus, the advantages.

The new online offer complements the online knowledge base "StahlDat SX", previously available at Matplus, which is the leading online system for steel data in Europe at www.stahldaten.de. The MMPDS cloud solution is available as well as other data offers of Matplus in the online shop shop.stahldaten.de as a low-cost annual subscription. As before, MMPDS continues to be available as an enterprise intranet solution.
