P3, the industry leader in mobile benchmarking, has announced the results of the first Mobile Benchmark for Malaysia evaluating the four mobile networks Celcom, Maxis, DiGi and U Mobile with regards to mobile coverage, speeds and network reliability. Applying the P3 methodology, which is today the acknowledged de-facto industry standard in more than 120 countries, P3 conducted a crowd-based analysis.

The results show:

– Celcom achieves the highest score with 931 points

– Maxis ranks second with 913 points, DiGi is third with 861 points

– U Mobile scores fourth with 663 points

– Celcom is best rated in Coverage for Data and Coverage for 4G

– Celcom and DiGi achieve the highest score in Coverage for Voice

The analysis is based on 364 million samples collected from 109 thousand users overall in 93.6 percent of the urban built-up area and in 64.8 percent of the non-urban built-up area throughout Malaysia. The data was collected in a consecutive 6-month-period from December 2018 to May 2019.

With a score of 931 out of a maximum of 1,000 points, Celcom is clearly ahead of competition in the crowdsourcing based Quality Assessment. Maxis ranks second and achieves an overall score of 913 points. DiGi follows third with an overall score of 861 points. U Mobile is in fourth place with an overall score of 663 points.

Celcom achieves highest number of points in Coverage for Data and Coverage for 4G.
In terms of Coverage for Voice, Celcom and DiGi achieve the highest score with 100 points each closely followed by Maxis with 98 points and U Mobile with 95 points. In terms of Data Coverage, Celcom achieves the highest score with 138 points compared to DiGi with 137 points, Maxis with 136 points and U Mobile with 125 points. In the 4G Coverage discipline, Celcom is also best rated with a score of 226 points, followed by Maxis with 203 points, DiGi with 188 and at some distance by U Mobile with 74 points.

Maxis shows the highest score for User Download Speed with 120 points, Celcom is second with 112 points, DiGi ranks third with 96 points while U Mobile follows in fourth place with 44 points. In User Upload Speed Celcom and Maxis are best rated with 55 points, followed by DiGi with 51 points and U Mobile with 35 points. In terms of Data Service Availability, Celcom and Maxis achieve a score of 300 points each, followed by DiGi and U Mobile with a score of 290 points each.
