• Finnish cabin producer AuroraHut integrates the EFOY fuel cell into their new all-season igloo houseboats for highly individual vacations at spectacular locations with zero environmental impact.
  • The fuel cell is the fully automatic, silent and environmentally friendly power source in all igloos.

SFC Energy AG (F3C:DE, ISIN: DE0007568578), a leading international provider of hybrid power solutions to the stationary and mobile power generation markets, announces the integration of the EFOY fuel cell into a new leisure application: The fuel cell is used to deliver eco-friendly power to the AuroraHut igloo houseboats of Finnish houseboat builder AuroraHut Oy, Ylivieska, Finland.

AuroraHut® is a completely new touristic concept for luxury adventure travellers. The scenic hut can be used as a houseboat on water in summer, and as an igloo on top of ice in winter. AuroraHut can easily be moved to any spectacular location where travellers want to spend time. And it is removed just as fast, with zero environmental impact. Igloo guests are right in the middle of nature while enjoying all the comforts and luxuries of a hotel. The modern houseboat igloo was specifically developed for observing nature, ice fishing, husky sledge riding and for watching the Northern lights.

The EFOY fuel cell ensures reliable off-grid power for the lights and devices of AuroraHut. The silent, fully automatic power source was specifically selected for its many advantages over other off-grid power sources like generators and for its environmental friendliness.

“Our AuroraHuts feature ecological premium accommodation for two people, with no need for building permits, no harmful effect on the environment and no emissions", says Juha Kärkkäinen, Managing Director of AuroraHuts Oy. "The EFOY fits perfectly into our eco-tourism concept. It is 100% environmentally friendly, silent, does not require much space and the fuel logistics are simple. We tested it in temperatures below minus 40 °C and it worked perfectly. Reliable off-grid power cannot come more conveniently."

"AuroraHut opens completely new touristic potentials for enjoying the Great Outdoors in luxury and convenience while at the same time protecting the environment and our planet’s resources. We are proud to further enable this exciting business model with our EFOY fuel cell", says Dr. Peter Podesser, CEO of SFC Energy AG. "Our EFOY fuel cells are becoming the off-grid power solution of choice in more and more leisure and industrial applications, where reliability, environmental friendliness and weather independence are key."
