Edmund Optics (EO), leading global manufacturer and distributor of precision optics, optical assemblies and imaging components, has once again won the inspect Award.

This acknowledgement is awarded by the imaging and machine vision magazine inspect from the publishing house Wiley on a yearly basis. After selecting the most innovative products amongst the applications, readers have to choose between the shortlisted products and select the product they find most trend-setting and treasure most. This year Edmund Optics applied with their new CA lens series designed for the new APS-C sensors by Sony (31 MP) and e2v (67 MP). As a unique feature they offer a TFL-mount, which is significantly more robust and stable, making it more suitable for industrial applications. Also, TFL-mounts allow for designing more compact lenses when compared to F- or M42-mounts, which can also be used for large full frame sensors with 43,3 mm diagonal. Dr. Boris Lange, Manager Imaging Europe, states: “Edmund Optics always listens to market trends and its customers and the CA lenses are a result of the latest development. We are aiming to bring the technology a good step forward by serving the market with a lens fulfilling the current gap between 1.1" and Full Frame Format. Being one of the winners is a proof that we are taking the right direction”.

This innovative product convinced the readers with a robust, compact and standardized design applicable for new APS-C sensor format with 28 mm diagonal. With an M35 x 0,75 thread and a flange focal distance of 17,526 mm, it can be considered as the big brother of the well-established C-mount for smaller sensor formats. The TFL-mount is standardized by the Japan Industrial Imaging Association (JIIA). This enables system designers and integrators to use and combine components from multiple suppliers, without comparing technical details.

EO provides complete imaging solutions with a large product line, technical expertise, manufacturing capabilities, technical support, and assists customers to maximize the performance of their imaging system. From stock items in the catalogue to customized versions of imaging lenses: EO – Your Partner in Advanced Imaging Optics! The first time Edmund Optics won an inspect award was in 2017 in Silver with its Cx series of compact and flexible lenses. In 2018 the Ruggedized Cr lens series was awarded with Gold, followed in 2019 by another Silver award for the Liquid Lens M12 Imaging Lenses series. EO is  very proud to again be amongst the recipients of the inspect award 2020 and very much appreciates the involvement of the readers.
