Half of all the homeowners in Germany who decide to use a PV system also choose to utilize a storage system. This has been proven by recent studies. With the new high-voltage storage system from LG Chem and SMA Solar Technology AG (SMA), PV system owners can flexibly use self-generated electricity even when the sun is not shining. With the combination of a Sunny Boy Storage battery inverter and an RESU 10M battery from LG Chem, installers benefit from significantly reduced transport and installation costs.

“The Sunny Boy Storage 3.7 is currently the only battery inverter that is compatible with the new high-voltage battery from LG Chem,” said Michael Ebel, PV & Storage Account Manager at SMA. “The combination of an SMA battery inverter and an RESU 10M battery means that an integrated DC/DC converter to increase the operating voltage of the battery is superfluous. This is a significant difference to previous RESU high-voltage batteries. The series connection of the individual models also enables the battery to be smaller and lighter and therefore take up less space. The modular design of the system and the simple, one-person installation save solar power professionals time.”

“LG Chem is excited about the opportunity to collaborate with SMA Solar Technology AG,” said Jeong-Jin Hong, vice president of the ESS Division at LG Chem. “Just as the Sunny Boy Storage can be flexibly adapted to individual needs at any time, our new RESU 10M battery also offers installers and end customers the greatest possible benefit. We are constantly working to provide them with an even better service.”

The RESU 10M high-voltage battery is a new modular home battery from LG Chem. It offers more value thanks to its innovative shape, as it is divided into two separate battery modules with a cover. Each battery module weighs approximately 36 kg, making installation easier for solar power professionals. With its robust material and sophisticated design, the battery can be installed both inside and outside the home.

The Sunny Boy Storage is a powerful battery inverter for private homes. It has an integrated emergency power supply with manual changeover, which ensures that important appliances are still supplied with power even in the event of a grid failure. Thanks to a tried-and-tested AC coupling, the Sunny Boy Storage is ideally suited for flexibly equipping new or retrofitted systems with high-voltage batteries.
