Embold Technologies GmbH, the Germany-based tech company behind the static code analysis platform Embold, has been certified by TÜV SÜD. The Certificate for Smart Software with the inclusion of the Functional Safety Module was awarded to the company and its product Embold v.1.7.x.

Embold, a software quality platform, works best when integrated into existing software development processes. It is already being used on a select few mission-critical software engineering developments across different industries. Companies quickly realize the value of Embold as they develop code due to the short installation times, the easy-to-navigate interface, and the speed in which they can check and improve their software quality.

High standards, reliable software

ISO 26262, a norm specifically relevant for the automotive industry (Road Vehicles – Functional Safety standard) defines functional safety guidelines for safety-critical automotive systems, which also includes usage of static analysis tools for ensuring code quality.

“The Embold product adheres to the Smart Software Certification scheme by TÜV SÜD sets to get certified within the industry. The combination of Smart Software and Functional Safety certifications is a unique and important one, as it shows the growing demand for standards and orientation related to software-driven manufacturing,” states Dr. Andreas Bärwald, Head of Software Solutions at TÜV SÜD Product Service.

An integral element, not an afterthought

Static code analysis should be incorporated into a company’s continuous software development process, and not be used as an afterthought at the end of the cycle. Embold does exactly this. By integrating directly in the start of the development process, it can identify hotspots in code before the project reaches further stages. The three key benefits are accomplished: the quality of the project is known and can be actively improved, the pace of development is faster, and features are developed in line with the timeline given.

“Our product meets the requisite standards for product and process quality and is well positioned to be integrated in tool-chains for automotive software quality. Therefore, some of the largest companies in the world trust us by using Embold as a part of their software development process”, states Vishal Rai, CEO of Embold Technologies GmbH.

By combining machine learning, rigorous statistical algorithms and powerful programming techniques, the Frankfurt-based company wants to ensure its product is “truly useful for organizations”, says Rai. “Software static analysis is such a powerful technique in testing and verification, that it cannot be sidestepped by organizations anymore. Just as software is revolutionizing the way we perceive, handle, and understand, for example, car mobility, Embold has reinvented the paradigm of static analysis.”
