nextLAP GmbH (www.nextlap.de), specialist in IoT-based solutions for the digital management and automation of production and logistics processes, has added a lidar button to its product portfolio. The button uses intelligent gesture control and reduces the workload of employees during order-picking processes. This low-cost IoT solution offers an affordable way for companies to increase the safety and efficiency of their workflows.

nextLAP develops IoT-based production and logistics solutions for the digitisation of various processes, including order-picking. In nextLAP’s standard solution, the pick or put is shown on a large LED display and confirmed at the touch of a button by the logistics or production employee. nextLAP has now developed the lidar button with intelligent gesture control to meet specific requirements and reduce employee workloads.

Easy operation in difficult locations thanks to gesture control

Lidar works similarly to radar and sonar, but uses light waves from a laser instead of radio or sound waves. The system calculates how long it takes for the light to hit an object or surface and be reflected back to the scanner. Lidar solutions can emit up to 1,000,000 pulses per second.

“Our lidar button is perfect for places in which a regular button solution is difficult to implement and would be tricky for the employee to reach. There’s no need to scan or to press the button. The motion sensor reacts to a single hand movement and triggers the pressing of the button. The lidar sensor can be calibrated to the distance at which it should trigger,” explains André Ziemke, Managing Director of nextLAP GmbH.

The nextLAP lidar button is a smart and cost-effective IoT solution that enables companies to independently digitise their processes. With the hardware and software available to lease, nextLAP offers a quick-to-implement, streamlined solution for smart processes and great savings on time and costs.

Über die nextLAP GmbH

nextLAP Inc. was founded in late 2016 by former Audi managers and is based in Mountain View, California. Based on many years of profound industry experience in Production, Logistics & IT, the company developed the AI Production-Process-Platform IP/1. It brings together Engineering & Execution of any Manufacturing & Logistics processes, pushing towards the self-optimizing Factory of the Future that autonomously takes decisions based on AI. nextLAP’s SmartRack product family enables their customers to digitize Production and Logistics processes themselves. The big data obtained from the digitized processes is played back to the AI Production-Process-Platform IP/1. Using algorithms and artificial intelligence, improvement measures and alternative actions for decision making are generated real-time. All nextLAP’s solutions are leased "as a service" on a monthly basis with no fixed term; usage, maintenance and support are included. The company’s customers include leading premium automotive manufacturers in the USA and Germany. (www.nextlap.io)
