• Kögel Cargo Coil: ideal for transporting coils and split strips

Van Steenbergen Transport from Arendonk in Belgium is refreshing its vehicle fleet of over 600 Kögel trailers with 100 new NOVUM-generation Kögel Cargo Coils. The forwarding company, specialising in FTL and LTL transports, enables its customers to carry out just-in-time transports with their own trailers throughout Europe. In addition, it offers logistics services, such as intermediate or long-term storage with a capacity of 12,000 square meters. Van Steenbergen Transport is a valued partner, thanks to almost two hundred years of forwarding experience and the logistical expertise it has acquired. The forwarding company uses the new trailers not only for transporting coils and split strips, but also for transporting textilesand foodstuffs. The flexible Kögel Cargo Coil trailers have the optimised external frame profile and improved body that characterise the NOVUM-generation trailers. With a low tare weight from 6,650 kilograms in the standard version, the Cargo Coil semi-trailers still have sufficient payload reserves. What’s more, the trailers have impressed the forwarding company with a very high degree of individualisation.

NOVUM-generation Kögel Cargo Coil

The NOVUM-generation Kögel Cargo Coil trailers have a stable, torsion-resistant welded frame with full-width cross beams, which is designed for a maximum distributed load of 30 tonnes per 1.5 metres over the centre of gravity of the payload. Instead of the standard 7,200-millimetre coil trough, Van Steenbergen Transport has opted for the optionally available 9,000-millimetre coil trough. Coils and split strips with a diameter of 900 to 2,100 millimetres can be transported in the coil troughs. For load-securing, eight pairs of stake pockets are fitted as options to hold square pipe stakes in the coil trough instead of the standard two pairs. The new external frame profile greatly increases the accessibility of the VarioFix lashing points, allowing the cargo to be lashed to the VarioFix perforated steel external frame with the tarpaulin closed and also in combination with the optionally available drop sides. The 13 pairs of lashing shackles, included as standard, are available with grip hooks at the sides for easier handling. Of these, five pairs have 2,500 kilograms tensile force per bracket and eight pairs have 4,000 kilograms tensile force per bracket around the centre of gravity of the payload. 20 coil trough covers ensure that the coil trough can be covered quickly and safely. The floor load-bearing capacity of the coil trough covers is designed to withstand high fork-lift axle loads of up to 5,460 kilograms. As you would expect, the Cargo Coil trailers have the DIN EN 12642 Code XL load-securing certificate.

Versatile individual equipment for Van Steenbergen Transport

In addition to the previously mentioned individual equipment, Van Steenbergen Transport has opted for further optional accessories. To protect the interior of the front wall from damage during everyday use, it has been fitted with a steel sheet with a thickness of two millimetres and a height of 1,250 millimetres. For enhanced impact protection, the rear of the vehicle is equipped with reinforced steel rubber bumpers. An eight-millimetre-thick lateral steel bracket, extending over the entire width, and locking cam protection, mounted centrally on the end plate of the frame, complete the trailer’s impact protection. Additional special equipment includes a steel lamp holder, a tyre pressure monitoring system, anti-vandalism side and roof tarpaulins, and much more.

Cathodic dip-paint coating: lasting protection from corrosion

On Kögel Cargo Coil trailers, the entire vehicle frame is given long-lasting protection against corrosion by nano ceramic technology and cathodic dip-paint coating, supplemented with a coat of UV varnish.
