The primary conference language is German, but international lectures in English are also very welcome. The submitted draft papers will be evaluated and selected by the scientific committee of German Geothermal Congress 2020 after the end of the Call for Papers on 1st June. From 15 July onwards, all speakers will be informed about the acceptance and scheduling of their presentation. The program will be published in August.
On three days, visitors of the German Geothermal Congress can participate in forums and workshops. The congress will be opened by a keynote speech by Ina Scharrenbach, Minister for Regional Identity, Communities and Local Government, Building and Gender Equality of the Land of North Rhine-Westphalia. Around 700 visitors and more than 100 specialist presentations are expected by the organizing Bundesverband Geothermie (German Geothermal Association).

The 1991 created Federal association geothermal energy registered association. (BVG) is an association of companies and individuals who are active in all areas of research and application in the field of geothermal energy. It brings together members from industry, science, planning and the energy supply sector. The main tasks of the association are to inform the public about the possibilities of using geothermal energy for heat and power generation and to engage in dialogue with political decision-makers. The BVG organises the annual Geothermal Energy Congress DGK as well as workshops on current topics and is the publisher of the trade journal "Geothermal Energy" and other information material. The DGK 2020 takes place from 10 to 12 November in Essen.
