• Complete vehicle conversion
  • Overall philosophy of "invisible armour"
  • Body in visible carbon fibre
  • Power increase to optionally 700HP/950Nm and 800HP/1.050Nm
  • Protection class either according to standard VPAM4 or VPAM7

The market for special protection vehicles has been growing continuously for years and is becoming increasingly popular with customers from all over the world. While special protection vehicles have an extremely long tradition – the Japanese Emperor Hirohito had such a vehicle built as early as 1930 – the combination of vehicles with high-quality technical and optical refinements that also pass the highest safety requirements is still a very new segment in the field of complete vehicle conversions.

Since the MANSORY brand is associated like no other with the use of carbon fibre components, this material was also the material of choice for the refinement of the exterior of this complete vehicle conversion. While the use of carbon had previously served primarily to optimize weight and enhance the appearance of the vehicle, this conversion to a special protection vehicle now has a further task: that of "invisible armouring".

In order to avoid the typical massive appearance of special protection vehicles, MANSORY has deliberately opted for dark visible carbon in the entire area below the window line to implement the "invisible armouring" in this vehicle and at the same time elegantly veneers or replaces the standard side protection strips in the transition above the window line. In combination with the selective use of carbon parts on the mirror caps, the A- and D-pillars, the surrounding roof line and the edging of the auxiliary driving lights on the roof, the vehicle being painted in obsidian black metallic gives the vehicle an elegant and harmonious overall appearance that makes the complete armouring of the car invisible even at second glance. The exterior conversions are rounded off by special wheels designed and developed especially for the armoured G-Class. These forged wheels are 21-inch in size and-ensure the shapely and inconspicuous use of the safety tyres.

The philosophy of "invisible armouring" is also continued in the interior. Only in details – such as the up to 41 mm thick windows – can it be recognised that this G-Class has been elaborately armoured to the highest safety standards to protect its occupants. While carbon is used on the exterior as a visual aid, the interior is equipped with full leather in two colours, which lends visual lightness to the various security measures. This is primarily achieved by the fact that the interior is finished with light leather in the area of the window line upwards and dark brown leather below it. The seats – as is customary in MANSORY interiors – and the rest of the interior take up both colour schemes in various combinations and complement each other to form a harmonious whole. The asymmetrical reflection of the colours of the front seats and the rear seat bench in relation to each other is particularly noteworthy.

In order to compensate for the inevitable additional weight of the entire vehicle caused by the armouring, various technical modifications were also implemented – not least in order to meet the high-performance standards of all MANSORY complete conversions even when converting to a special protection vehicle. In addition to the engine with the two optionally available power upgrades of 700 hp/950 Nm and 800 hp/1,050 Nm, the chassis has also been adapted to meet the increased requirements for higher gross weight and the desire for increased performance. The main focus of the MANSORY engineers here: improved driving dynamics with maximum comfort at the same time in conjunction with the overall philosophy of the vehicle: the concept of "invisible armouring". Not only visually, but also when driving and in everyday handling of the vehicle.

The MANSORY G-Class meets the highest safety standards by converting into a special protection vehicle of the standardised protection class VPAM7. These apply both to fire and explosives, i.e. hand grenades against the roof and floor and lateral impact of the vehicle. The design of the protection cell for passengers was based on the VPAM-ERV protection standard with regard to the distance and type of explosives. Of course, all safety features such as siren, intercom system, fire extinguisher, breathing masks for all passengers and a signalling system ("flashlights" – optionally integrated in the front apron and/or in the roof) are also included in the complete conversion. The unladen weight of the vehicle after the conversion is 3,750 kg (with 500 kg payload).

As an alternative, MANSORY also offers armouring for the G-Class in accordance with the lower protection class of the VPAM4 standard. This protection class also offers comprehensive and increased protection for its occupants, but is aimed at customers who consider light armouring of their vehicle to be sufficient for their personal safety.
