The corona pandemic poses great challenges to people around the world. Health systems and medical facilities are being subjected to an unprecedented test of endurance. The novel corona virus SARS-CoV-2 has put the entire world in a state of emergency.

Research into effective medicines and vaccines against the coronavirus is now a top priority. As a manufacturer of high-precision temperature control technology, we consider it our responsibility to support research in the fight against the coronavirus.

“We are part of Germany’s critical infrastructure with our product portfolio for research and pharmaceutical production. Many of our clients are working intensively on the development of new drugs, test procedures and vaccines against the coronavirus. Our temperature control units make an important contribution in the research laboratories and production facilities of chemistry, pharmaceutical and medical technology” says Daniel Huber, CEO of Peter Huber Kältemaschinenbau AG.

Temperature control technology from Huber is used, for example, to manufacture chemicals for coronavirus tests. In addition, reaction vessels are tempered in which the first vaccines against SARS-CoV-2 may soon be produced. Huber temperature control technology is also used in the production of medical devices and protective equipment, e.g. for material and functional tests and for quality assurance. In the field of laboratory diagnostics, Huber products take over the cooling of analysis devices and ensure precise temperatures in the cultivation of cultures as well as in the preparation and storage of laboratory samples.

In order to support science and research in the best way in the fight against the corona pandemic, Huber is currently giving top priority to inquiries and orders in this area. At the same time, coordinated safety and organisational measures ensure that the company itself is not affected by the virus. The focus is on protecting employees and maintaining production.  Accordingly, numerous measures to protect the workforce have been established, such as the introduction of additional hygiene measures and rules of conduct, the cessation of travel activities and the spatial distancing of employees.

“We want to help contain the pandemic with our temperature control solutions as quickly as possible. In the fight against the coronavirus, time is one of the decisive factors.  That is why we are available for short-term device deliveries and support services wherever our products are needed for research or production tasks against the coronavirus. I am convinced that if we act quickly and responsibly, we will be able to overcome this extraordinary situation together” states Daniel Huber.

4Status update on accessibility, delivery situation and protective measures

We are currently fully operational in all departments. The company has sufficient inventory and we continue to receive materials from our suppliers. Orders are still being accepted and goods are being delivered.

In the meantime, the first bottlenecks in deliveries and in the logistical area and in personnel planning can be seen. Due to the corona crisis (force majeure), the delivery times stated in the offers and order confirmations are subject to change. We ask for your understanding.

We have taken various precautionary measures to reduce the risk of infection in the company and to ensure its continued operation.

The employees of all departments can be reached by email and phone as usual, and service and support orders will continue to be carried out with the usual quality and care. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us by phone +49 781 9603-0 or email info@huber-online.com.

4Further information regarding COVID-19

The number of infections with SARS-CoV-2 continues to increase dramatically worldwide. The World Health Organisation (WHO) declared the global spread of COVID-19 as a pandemic on 11.03.2020. According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), this is a very dynamic situation which is to be taken seriously.

The RKI currently rates the risk to the health of the population in Germany from the COVID-19 infection as high, and very high for risk groups. The likelihood of serious illnesses increases with increasing age and existing medical conditions. According to the RKI, however, this risk varies from region to region.

Über Peter Huber Kältemaschinenbau SE

Huber Kältemaschinenbau is the technology leader for high precision thermoregulation solutions in research and industry. Our products ensure precise temperature control in laboratories, pilot plants and production processes from -125°C to +425°C. The company employs approximately 350 employees at its headquarters in Offenburg and operates internationally with offices and trading partners.

Huber has pioneered the technological development in the field of fluid temperature control with several innovative products. A revolution in temperature control technology was the introduction of the Unistat temperature control systems in 1989. Even today Unistats set the tone when it comes to highly dynamic temperature control processes. Typical applications can be found in process engineering, the semi-conductor industry, solar technology industries, materials testing as well as research in the chemical, pharmaceutical and petro-chemical industries. Apart from the Unistat systems the product range includes chillers, heating and cooling circulators, visco baths, calibration units and a wide range of customized solutions.
