Given that the interpack in Düsseldorf had to be postponed, the WIPOTEC Group provides an opportunity to obtain digital and virtual information about products and solutions, exhibits and trends of all WIPOTEC trade show innovations, on their website. The WIPOTEC Innovation Center has many of the company’s experts giving specialised presentations. The topics cover all business units and thus the entire product portfolio of the WIPOTEC Group at the central production site in Kaiserslautern. The short videos provide a broad overview of the current product range and allow a profound view into the future of dynamic inspection technology.

Dynamic weighing technology

Customised solutions and powerful data interfaces stand for easy integration of top-notch dynamic weighing technology, which only a world market leader like WIPOTEC can offer. Jens Kühn, Technical Managing Director of WIPOTEC, talks about trends in technology and development. For example, WIPOTEC Weigh Cells are used worldwide in non-vibration-free environments because of their Active Vibration Compensation (AVC). With the patented conveyor belt technology it is possible to weigh accurately even at the highest speeds.

WIPOTEC combines engineering and manufacturing competence under one roof. The resulting high vertical range at the central production site in Kaiserslautern enables fast and efficient implementation of customer-specific solutions. The focus is on future and customer oriented topics such as Industry 4.0 and predictive maintenance.

Track & Trace

Volker Ditscher, Global Sales Director for Track & Trace at WIPOTEC presents the latest innovations of the Track & Trace product range "Traceable Quality System". While the focus in the past 10 years – driven by global legislation – has been on the pharmaceutical industry, there has recently been a clear trend towards implementing Track & Trace in all areas of daily life. The traceability of products will make our everyday life safer. From agricultural products to baby milk powder, from medical technology to cosmetics and luxury goods. The cross-sector expertise of WIPOTEC-OCS in combination with a wide range of fully integrated key technologies is crucial in this context.

Weigh Cells and Weighing Kits

Michael Kirsch, Global Sales Director for the Weighing Technology division, presents the basic technology of WIPOTEC Weigh Cells and Weighing Kits. They are the core components of their OEM Weighing Technology, which offers machine manufacturers all over the world a wide range of integration options. There is a trend towards 100% product control and very flexible systems. All Weigh Cells are based on electro-magnetic force restoration and can be found in the pharmaceutical and food industry, the chemical and automotive industry and in many other areas. Available in stainless steel or aluminium design and flexibly configurable through several load output positions, systems are available with an Ingress Protection (IP) rating of up to IP69k.

Many integrators rely on WIPOTEC modular multi-track systems with which up to 12 Weigh Cells can be configured. These allow the smallest track centre distances. Active Vibration Compensation (AVC) effectively filters out disturbances caused by machine or environmental influences – without loss of speed or accuracy.

Checkweighers

Checkweighers guarantee 100% weight control of machine-packaged products in ongoing production processes. Ingolf Latz, Global Sales Director for Checkweighers at WIPOTEC, talks about the trend towards higher output rates and effortlessly fulfilled supermarket specifications: WIPOTEC-OCS offers solutions for the specifications of well-known food retail chains. WIPOTEC-OCS Checkweighers not only check the weight specifications, but also support process documentation and production statistics. Automated filling control systems stand for consistently accurate filling quantities without costly product losses as a result of underfilling or overfilling. The control parameters provided by WIPOTEC-OCS Checkweighers detect the smallest deviations promptly and precisely.

An impressively high vertical range results in extraordinary product quality. Weigh Cells based on electro-magnetic force restoration, conveyor belts, drive and control technology as well as the software used, all components come from one source: WIPOTEC. Made in Germany. Developed, designed, and manufactured in Kaiserslautern.

Product Inspection

The requirements for product inspection systems go far beyond the detection of foreign objects. Hasan Uygul, Global Sales Director for Product Inspection, describes the fact that modern X-ray inspection systems can now also detect the completeness and shape of products. However, requirements of today’s customers go even further. They require visual checks of EAN codes or the printed best-before date.

Together with Michael Siegrist, Hasan Uygul explains new developments such as multi-frequency X-ray processes and presents compact inspection machines that have a 3D laser and a vision system in addition to a classic X-ray technique. The 3D laser system recognises the height profile of products and can evaluate sealing quality. Vision systems can verify printed information. These fully equipped all-in-one inspection centres can easily be integrated into existing production lines, even in confined spaces.

Mail & Logistics

Jens Alder, Global Sales Director of the Mail & Logistics business unit, talks about the current boom in his business unit and the logistics industry in general. Based on a constantly growing volume of consignments, customer requirements – in terms of maximum precision and availability – are also increasing. With sorter speeds of more than four metres per second and ever smaller gaps between consignments, new and innovative solutions from WIPOTEC-OCS bring even greater throughput and higher system efficiency. An exclusive anti-vibration technology enables precise weighing results even in the event of environmental disturbances, as they frequently occur in the parcel logistics environment. With the D-Box, WIPOTEC provides a tool that predetermines the achievable accuracy at the point of use.

The WIPOTEC-OCS product portfolio offers a system tailored to the respective application for every weighing challenge, from gram-precise letter scales to the handling of bulky goods.
