With the current restrictions imposed on the hotel industry in Germany, now is the time for hotels to bolster their internal data protection defences through a comprehensive — and industry-specific — e-learning awareness course; introduced to the market by German-based information and data protection specialists, Increase Your Skills.

Currently available in German — and with additional English subtitles from December— the e-learning course reinforces and strengthens employees understanding of data protection in respect of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), through an interactive and engaging format.

“We are continually trying to push the boundaries in finding new ways for clients to understand important information in a memorable way”, said Carolin Andree, co-CEO of Increase Your Skills. “We feel this course is a great example of this, and we look forward to engaging with more hoteliers.”

The exciting new feature of the course sees the addition of synchronized English language subtitles, allowing more employees than ever to take part. The decision to provide the course in English comes as a response to client feedback, with hotels highlighting the need to provide training to their native-English speaking employees.

“To reflect the dynamic nature of the hotel industry and to ensure we reach as many partners as possible, we decided to offer participants the chance to complete the course in both English and German, with all course material available through both mediums”, Carolin added. “This is going to be a common feature of our products in the future.”

Following Marriott Internationals recent £18.4 million fine for a data breach exposing millions of guests’ personal data, there is a greater emphasis on the drastic need for adequate data protection awareness training. With the hotel industry in Germany currently ground to a halt in response to the current restrictions, now offers an opportunity for hoteliers to roll out systematic employee training that they can complete — safely and securely— independent of the workplace.

“There is no doubt that these uncertain times are difficult for us all, but given the time-sensitive nature of the hotel industry, we feel it is the perfect opportunity to engage employees in awareness training whilst the opportunity presents itself”, continued Carolin.

Participants will cover a range of topics which will ensure they know, and continue to be aware, of how to act in continued compliance with the GDPR. Hotel employees will benefit from an interactive course offering video, animation and quizzes, whilst using tangible, industry-specific examples and materials, ensuring consistent compliance controls throughout the company.
