Airbus continues its development in China and signs seven new contracts to provide secure communications technology and infrastructures to metro lines in four different cities.

The Chinese cities of Fuzhou, Zhengzhou, Chongqing, and Hefei turn once again to Airbus to provide a secure and reliable Tetra communications system and equipment such as TB3 base stations, TMR880i mobile radios, TH9 terminals, and Airbus Tetra Taira servers.

For Fuzhou, the capital of the Fujian province, Airbus will provide a Tetra communication system and equipment to cover the city’s metro Line 5. Fuzhou metro lines 1 and 2 are already equipped with Airbus Tetra communication systems, respectively in operation since 2016 and 2019. In addition, Airbus deploys the Tetra communication system for Fuzhou metro line 6 which is planned to be put in operation in 2021.

Airbus will also provide three new metro lines in Zhengzhou city (Lines 3, 6, and 10) with Tetra systems composed of a Taira server, TB3 base stations, handheld TH9 and TH1n terminals and TMR880i mobile radios. Five operating metro lines (Lines 1, 2, 5, 14 and the Chengjiao Line) of the Henan Province capital already benefit from Airbus Tetra systems which ensure the metro lines’ daily operations.

Airbus Tetra technology and equipment will also be implemented for Chongqing city metro line 9, as well as Hefei’s metro lines 4 and 5, in addition to the existing lines which already use Airbus secure communications technology.

“Despite the unprecedented times we are all facing with the global pandemic, the metro market in China continues to flourish. We are glad to see that Chinese cities are turning to our solutions to ensure the safety of their metro lines. Since they serve millions of passengers every year, they need performant communication solutions,” explains Marko Tiesmaki, Head of the Asia-Pacific region for Secure Land Communications at Airbus.

“Airbus’ renowned technology helps ensure the smooth-running of metro operations on a day-to-day basis and also allows secure and reliable communications between employees and the safe guard of all passengers, at all times” he adds.
