In addition to the highly effective air disinfection with UVC against coronaviruses of over 99.9% in the air and the patented air flow behavior, the UVC-based air purifier youvee® also impresses with a user-friendly, smart control via the youvee® app. The youvee® app can now be downloaded from the Google Play Store.

The convenient youvee® app allows you to control the operation of the youvee® air purifier via WLAN or Bluetooth connection. For this purpose, the youvee® provides a WLAN hotspot or can be integrated into an existing WLAN for central control of multiple devices.

“Our youvee® mobile app allows our customers to control the device via Bluetooth connection, to change settings or to carry out a firmware update. The app is now available in the Google Playstore and will follow soon in the Apple App Store,” explains Martin Selig, Managing Director of youvee GmbH. “With our smart air purifier youvee®, we not only offer a highly effective, powerful device for protection against coronaviruses. With the app function, we also meet the individual Internet of Things requirements of our customers, ”he adds.

youvee® is immensely powerful and cleans 835 m3 of room air per hour. This corresponds to six times the air change in a 50m2 room or the air consumption of eight people. The air purifier is currently used for air disinfection and protection against corona infections in offices, law firms, medical practices, clinics, restaurants, nursing homes, schools and kindergartens. The youvee® air purifier was developed by Karlsruhe engineers, is "Made in Germany", CE-certified and is produced locally in Karlsruhe. Further information can be found on the website www.youvee.de.

Functions of the youvee® app:

  • Infinitely adjustable volume flow

The volume flow of sterilized air provided by youvee® can be continuously adapted to individual needs, depending on the occupancy and size of the room.

  • UV-C monitoring

youvee® continuously measures the current radiation output within the UV-C radiation chamber and thus ensures that sufficient UV-C radiation intensity is always provided. If the radiation output decreases due to soiling of the UV-C lamps or a defect in one of the two lamps, the app informs you immediately.

  • CO2 concentration

The sensor continuously measures the CO2 value of the room air and displays it on the app. If the limit value of 1000ppm is exceeded, an optical signal is triggered to indicate whether window ventilation or increased mechanical ventilation.

  • Automatic mode

With adjustable upper and lower limit values for the CO2 concentration and the fan power, the operation of the youvee® in this mode adapts to the current CO2 concentration. Here, youvee® reacts independently to the rising and falling CO2 concentration in the air – as is the case, for example, with changing room occupancy – through higher and lower fan power.

In addition, in this mode, an automatically increasing fan power is an additional acoustic indicator to carry out the next window ventilation.

  • Grouping

Using the youvee® app, several devices can be combined into a control group, which enables the entire device group to be controlled via one command.

How does youvee® work?

Viruses like the SARS-CoV-2 pathogen are released with tiny liquid particles so called aerosols when speaking, coughing or sneezing. Heat sources such as electrical devices, radiators and, above all, humans create an air flow that rises due to the lower density of warm air. The viruses adhering to aerosols are on the ceiling within a few seconds, from there they are distributed throughout the room and fall back down on cooler external components. The room air is therefore constantly mixed and the risk of Covid-19 infections by corona aerosols is particularly given at head level, as the air masses rising from the floor and falling from the ceiling meet there.

Effective air flow

youvee® makes use of the natural air movement in the interior: the exhaled air rises to the ceiling area, whence it is extracted, cleaned of corona and other viruses and – unlike other air purifiers – anew distributed on the floor. The resulting sterile air lake boosts the buoyancy of the exhaled air and minimizes the amount of virus-contaminated air inhaled by other people and the risk of infection with Covid-19.

UV-C radiation

youvee® uses the principle of UV-C disinfection. UV-C light is a proven, highly effective disinfection method that is used, for example, in operating theatres, intensive care rooms and in the food industry. With youvee®, highly efficient UV-C fluorescent tubes and an intelligently arranged UV-C radiation reflector ensure the neutralization of 99.9% of the viruses in the air passed through. The structure of the disinfection zone also uses UV-C filters to ensure that UV-C radiation cannot reach the outside in a dangerous manner.

Integrated CO2 sensor

When the adjustable limit value in ppm (e.g. 1000 ppm) is exceeded, the air purifier gives an optical signal to recommend ventilation of the room. In addition, the CO2 concentration measurement enables youvee® to operate in automatic mode: the youvee® can be operated according to the current CO2 concentration thanks to the adjustable upper and lower limit values for CO2 concentration and fan output. The device thus reacts automatically to an increasing CO2 concentration – usually triggered by a higher room occupancy by people – with an increased supply of sterile air.

About youvee® GmbH

During lockdown in spring 2020, Martin Selig and Dr.-Ing. Max Mertins developed youvee® to offer a technical solution against the worldwide pandemic. The engineers with research and industrial experience in the areas of ventilation technology, architecture, optics, and serial production developed youvee® as part of an initiative. The impetus was given by demands from science and politics for decentralized air cleaning systems with new, non-critical flow effects and adequate disinfection performance. youvee® takes exactly these requirements and approaches into account.
