Exakt Health, the sports physiotherapy app, has closed a first financing round raising a total of $500.000 from Inventures.vc and well-known business angels including Maximilian Tayenthal (Founder N26). The funds will be used to bring the first product to market as early as May this year. Exakt Health is a digital health smartphone application for sports injury diagnosis and personalised treatment plans, that was co-founded by former N26 employees Lucia Payo (CTO) and Philip Billaudelle (CEO)

"Getting an appointment at an orthopedic specialist is a nightmare. It takes several weeks and then you are checked off in a few minutes with generic treatment advice," says Philip Billaudelle, CEO of Exakt Health. "This is the 21st century, and we can do better. With Exakt Health, we are building a digital health application with the mission to make best-in-class sports physiotherapy accessible to everyone, anywhere."

Exakt Health provides a mobile app that leads users through self-diagnosis for standard sports injuries and offers customised therapy plans for different conditions. Starting with running-specific injuries, the app provides easy and free access to the expertise from sports physiotherapists and doctors through modern technology. The company is in the process of getting a European medical device license for its app in time for the public launch in May 2021. The waiting list to try the beta app is already open.

"With their complementary skill sets and extensive experience to build and scale a regulated product at N26 Lucia and Philip have all the ingredients to make Exakt Health a successful European startup. The pandemic has shown us what’s possible remotely and we are convinced they will show that this holds also true for physical therapy." Simon Leicht, Partner at Inventures.vc.

With the newly-raised $500,000 and the support of a strong network of business angels, the founding team has gathered an impressive line-up of Know-How in the most relevant fields such as digital healthcare, product development, and scaling business. Investors include Maximilian Tayenthal (Founder N26), Gloria Bauerlein (ex Head of Strategy Kry), Cornelia Hoppe (Done! Berlin) and Kelly Ford (former CMO N26).
