Applications based on artificial intelligence (AI) are becoming increasingly common, both among private customer and in a growing number of businesses. But regulation is lagging behind technical development, leaving many companies uncertain of how to develop highquality AI applications. TÜV SÜD has now developed AI quality management training which uses a systematic quality management approach to support fast, quality- and market-focused development of AI-based applications. The first training courses were held with various companies in Asia and Europe.

"The new training is designed to cover most use cases of AI. It targets companies, organisations and startups seeking to develop marketable AI applications", explains Dr Martin Saerbeck, CTO Digital Service at TÜV SÜD in Singapore. "We observe that many established companies are developing and using AI products but are not AI experts and run into dependability difficulties when it comes to implementation. On the other side of the spectrum there are companies specialising in AI with highly creative ideas, but are unaware of either legal or normative requirements or how to assure the quality of their AI-based development process. Our training helps both groups to develop and use AI applications in a quality- and market-focused manner."

Within the scope of the training, TÜV SÜD experts provide comprehensive information on how to establish a quality management system for the development of AI applications. The training provides background information – also industry- or product-specific on request – on existing AI technologies, applicable regulations and latest developments of international committees. Besides typical sources of errors in various AI technologies, it also familiarises participants with best practices. Furthermore, the training addresses the cornerstones of high-quality AI applications, including data management, AI robustness, lifecycle and quality assurance of AI applications, and safety & security as well as control and testing of AI applications.
