Irlbacher, a globally active specialist in the processing and functionalisation of flat glass, has significantly enhanced its smart info terminal Cary. New features include a multi-function slot for add-on modules, wireless update options OTA, comprehensive cyber security as well as seamless integration into a wide variety of system environments.

At first glance, Cary is a smart info terminal with an unmissable, high-contrast 21.5-inch touch screen. Thanks to its WLAN interface, the information displayed can be changed OTA (over the air) at any time – from dynamic visitor management at large events to the canteen’s menu. In the design, great importance was attached to achieving the highest possible energy efficiency. Additionally, as an option, Cary can be equipped with a person recognition system: The terminal then goes into standby after the last interaction and activates automatically when another person approaches.

Depending on its application, the terminal can be equipped with different components, such as a QR code reader. A hygiene module is always integrated. In addition to a large, low-maintenance tank, this offers a colourfully illuminated tunnel with an integrated contactless spray system. This  facilitates the integration of (skin) protection concepts into existing processes, for example with clocking in.

Cary is characterised by a closed, gap-free, and continuously even touch surface made of high-quality and robust toughened safety glass. This makes it very easy to keep the unit clean, or to treat it hygienically. An antibacterial coating is also available as an option.

As a modular platform, Cary can be expanded with a variety of additional devices, such as an RFID reader for access cards. This enables the information terminal to distinguish between own staff and visitors and thus to forward the relevant information in a targeted manner.

Cary can be fixed to the wall – or used mobile on a height-adjustable stand. The sturdy sheet steel housing and the tempered safety glass of the front enable unsupervised use. This makes the sophisticated digital signage stele from Irlbacher suitable for a wide range of applications in companies, at railway stations and airports as well as in museums or administrative buildings.

Cary is also available as an OEM version. With this, Irlbacher directly addresses providers of industry solutions, for example patient call systems as well as event and rental companies.

Cary can be seen live at embedded world 2023 on stand 1-252.

Über die Irlbacher Blickpunkt Glas GmbH

Founded in 1935 in Schönsee (Bavaria), the family-run Irlbacher group of companies is today a global specialist in glass technology. On ten hectares, over 600 employees process more than 80 types of glass with the highest precision – for hygienic HMIs, elegant interior and exterior lighting, stylish fireplaces, aesthetic building technology, functional sanitary objects or with micrometre precision for the process industry.
Worldwide, Irlbacher has the most comprehensive portfolio in glass processing. Our in-house printing and design centre implements smart multi-material solutions. The application technology department is constantly exploring new technical possibilities. Our own R&D facilities contribute sophisticated touch solutions – and equips the electronics directly on the back of the HMI glasses. Not to forget our mechanical engineering: These machines, transforming over 85 years of experience and knowledge in glass into industrial processes, are not available for purchase.
Irlbacher has long since become the leading partner for complex, glass-based assemblies. The basis for this is the company’s own modular solution construction kit, consisting of a dozen sophisticated technology platforms.
Since 1990, the company has been continuously investing in sustainability and working to reduce its ecological footprint. Since 2018, Irlbacher has been one of the few medium-sized companies in the Climate Protection and Energy Efficiency Group of German Business. At the end of 2020, the company’s own CHP unit with a total output of 2.1 MW went into operation. This combined heat and power unit saves over 1,100 t of CO2 every year.
The Irlbacher family is committed to Germany as a business location and manufactures exclusively at its Schönsee site in eastern Bavaria, about 100 km east of Nuremberg.
