The 6th NANOscientific Forum Europe (#NSFE2023) will be hosted by Prof. Dr. F. Pelayo García de Arquer, the leader of Research Group CO2 Mitigation Accelerated by Photons at ICFO.

After three years of online editions, we are proud to invite scientists and researchers working in the field of Scanning Probe Microscopy to the in-person NSFE 2023 in magnificent Barcelona! The scientific focus will be on wide range of SPM applications and techniques that enable the transformation of life standards. We will talk about emerging nanomaterials for advanced technologies, functional surfaces, and hybrid materials as well as innovative methods in nanotechnology and correlative microscopy.

The cornerstone of our research is to understand electrochemical interfaces better, so that we can program them and improve the performance of the associated devices (for example, to make solar fuels more efficiently). The advances in AFM and related technologies achieved during the last years present a unique opportunity to shed light on these highly dynamic interfaces. We are excited to host the 2023 edition of the NSFE, bringing together international scientific leaders and showing the advantages of using AFM in different energy applications,” proudly comments Pelayo García de Arquer, ICFO.

“AFM techniques such as Kelvin probe force microscopy can provide unique insights on electronic properties of functional polymer samples at the nanoscale. With the ongoing,  fast- paced progress in AFM research, the NSFE gives a great overview on recent developments and is an amazing opportunity particularly for young researchers to exchange ideas and connect to leading scientists in their fields,” enthusiastically comments Dr. Ilka Hermes from Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden, one of the keynote speakers of last year’s NSFE.

The NSFE 2023 will include keynote lectures on different SPM applications from nanoelectronics and photonics to nanomaterials and bio-related applications.  Exciting poster sessions and contributed lectures are planned to enable young scientists presenting their research projects. In the  live hands-on-sessions on Park Systems AFM instruments, the attendees will learn tips and tricks on various AFM techniques. The whole event will be rounded off by a thrilling social program exploring the flair of Spanish culture and highlights of Barcelona.
