The all-knowing Bill Gates has big plans once again, a mini reactor with a huge battery.

Bill Gates, like so many, believes in nuclear power. The plans are not new, but U.S. sanctions and the Russia-Ukraine war delayed execution. But now the mini reactor, called "Sodium", is scheduled to begin operation in Wyoming by 2028 and supply 225,000 households. If the project is successful, hundreds will be produced in series to help achieve climate neutrality. TerraPower, the company founded by Bill Gates 15 years ago, is responsible for the project. The new mini-reactor is sodium-based and depleted uranium is to be used, thus reducing nuclear waste. So instead of water, sodium is to provide cooling in the reactor, that’s the innovation in a nutshell. Sodium has excellent thermal conductivity and prevents corrosion. The "sodium" is expected to cost around one billion US dollars.

As in a conventional nuclear power plant, heat is used to convert water into steam, drive a turbine, which then produces electricity. To produce the heat, uranium atoms are split. Sodium absorbs the heat; even in the event of a power outage, there should be no problems such as a meltdown. Small reactors are in vogue because they have some advantages. For example, they can be produced in a factory and then transported to the site of operation. Uranium companies such as Labrador Uranium and Uranium Energy ensure that there is no shortage of uranium.

Labrador Uraniumhttps://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/labrador-uranium-inc/ – has prospective projects in central and northern Labrador. In addition, there is a uranium project in Nunavut.

Uranium Energyhttps://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/uranium-energy-corp/ – has projects in Canada and the United States, some of which are operational, and is thus well positioned. The newly added Roughrider uranium project further complements the high-grade projects.
